Can you have per say a 6800 Ultra and a 6800GT in SLi or do both of the video cards have to be the same type?

Same type. Not entirely sure, but I've heard some people flashed their GT's BIOS up to the Ultra and that may work theoretically. However, as I said, I'm not positive that does work in practice.

I think you need the same BIOS and the same clock speed. So theoretically it should be possible. Just don't run out and buy an eVGA Ultra and BFG 6800GT for SLI on my word.

I actually am running two BFG 6800GT's with different BIOS revisions and I havent noticed any SLI probs yet...

They can get to 417core 1130mem in SLI mode no artifacts (with extra fan blowing over the two) : ambient 70F... OS they are both running over Ultra Speeds

Supposedly they have to both be from the same manufacturer, but I don't know of anyone who has put that to the test yet. Both of my 6600 GT's are identical Chaintech units.

Testing that theory is not something the average person would want to do.

If it didn't work they would have to got through the RMA process.

J-Mag and ThomasE66 if you guys ever run 3DMark05 can you please post your scores here.
I could always use more SLI scores. ;)

This system is only a week old, so I'm still in tweak mode. I'll just posted my current score though.

that would mean I would have to get my lazy ass to go download 3dmark 05 :p

Honestly, i think the 'marks are fun for showin off, but really I could care less because alot of 3d applications run differently or stress different subcomponents differently. SO I prefer to run benches with the crap I actually play.
