Chemical Warfare

Well I am planning on using the blanks that came with the case for the 5 1/4
bays (x2) for the CoolDrive. I am thinking that I will sand down/repaint the front bez to match the rest of the case, however I need to think of a design
to dremel into the blank for intake for the 40mm fans attached to the CoolDrive 2's

slash vents.. or several lines through the cover

The 40mm fan is centered in the bay, the middle 2 bays of the 4 I have the
hdd's in, the top and bottom will be stealthed CDRW/DVD and a plain CD-rom
just to have things look even

so

(didnt feel like messing with M$ Paint)

Airflow for the drives:Make a mesh plate that is the same size as two 5 1/4 bays and cover the edges with what you used earlier.

Nice mod, looks good sofar.

Ok no pics. but what I have done

Wired up my belgin switch (no led though looks better w/o)
working on redo'ing the LED's in the fans... (doh!)
Fixed the second white CCFL to illuminate the ChemW Chart better

Trying to aquire some mesh soon to make my new stealthy
covers for them cooldrive2's

I am [H]ard at work.. um. yea

CW.jpg

will take the existing bay cover.. dremel out the "white" parts
two rivets per side holding in the mesh

most likely mesh will be black with the flo. oj colors for the script like I did
on the sign for the top of the case

maybe later on I will wire some of my UV leds (if I have any left) and b(l)ack light it..

Tell me what you think about :

\\Lettering for the Drive Bays//

(it will be much cleaner and spaced out better when I do it on the
mesh.. but just an idea....)

Feedback plz! kthxuvrmch

Other Feedback request. I have heard alot of bitching about the black/yellow on the front
the front B will get sanded -> painted Urban Camo (when it warms up) but what about
the section with the power button/usb and bottom of the case.

Since some have said they dont like it. tell me what should be there instead!
I challenge you!

Work with me here people!

I don't see anything wrong with the black yellow, although I will go ahead and say it could be thought that it doesn't go with the camo. The way I figure, if you're going to drop the stripes, might as well go all the way.

I am tired of seeing computer mods that simply
1)add holes for watercooling parts.
2)wire sleeve
3)paint
4)done.

I realize this is a rant but the sad part is that if thats what the modder wants to do then that is what they want to do. I personally find this case to be really nice, i think the paint job looks amazing. The detail put into the camoflague intrigues me, not many would do that.

Just thinking... I already installed the plexi for that big square boring looking window...
Now im thinking I should do some mod work to the window... maybe doing the Urban
cammo look to it and using uv-reactive paints on parts. errr or something more
official looking... hmm. more ideas for feedback and comments on! :)

biohazard window applique is what i'd do... check out frozencpu.com for that one.

I would. but. thats a little over done and I want to go for something somewhat un1que ;)

well there are at least 3 people who like to talk :p
too bad no one else wants to help :(

Kodiak, don't lose the stripes! It's the little color details that make the mod stand out. They balance the "glowy" stuff well, and really pop against the cammo. If you do the whole case cammo it loses it's identity as a Toxic Area, and becomes more Mil-Spec in character.

As for the window... I was thinking you could frost the lower 1/3 of it, with paint or sandblasting, that fades into clear. That way it would look like the waste is seeping into it at the bottom and starting to react with the plex.

Is this helping?

Hmm. good idea... I have been trying to think about how I would do a "leakage"
for some time.. (not going to do inside the case now because I have sound mats
to reduce alot of the noise) but maybe I can work on that for the window.. The cool
thing is if you remeber the big vials that i had with the highlighter ink in it (they still have
it in there.. been about a month!) that stuff is pretty thick and dries fairly good and is uv
reavtive when dry too. (whoohoo!)

maybe this is a match made in heaven.. err.. or somewhere..

Yea I always kinda like the stripes, was surprised that people didnt like them..
so most likey I will keep them unless i get some really good ideas for them!

I was also looking at some Fallout 2 pics on images.google and thinking about
doing an etch on the window of the "gas mask" dude

Kodiak, this is sort of what I mean. I also added what I am assuming is your plan for the front grill with the CHEMICAL WARFARE text added. What do ya think? :D

it got bitten by a chunk of radioactive photoshop :D

sareee couldn't resist... but it's just photoshopping to show a pontential effect.

The Chemical Warfare Grill is definately a keeper, maybe the green too. If it's UV sensitive it'll be good (in moderation). It does seem to go with al the greenish UV fans. What is the verdict on the stripes?

Edit: How about having a peice of glowy stuff at the bottom, so that it might look like the glow is because of the glowy junk. Like you got Kriptonite or something down there giving off a glow. Or I'm going to go ahead and suggest the green tapered (I may be looking for a diffrent word, but tapered will do) junk in a border thing all around the window. I prefer the kriptonite myself.

Hmm. I like but i might have a hard time trying to impliment it (wish i had p-choppin skills)
maybe someday ^_^

hmm. well on the inside I will have lots of vials of chemically looking stuff to simulate
the lab look, was thinking maybe a broken vial with stuff commin out kinda res evil
like...

a broken vile with a pool of glowy around it, that's even beter than kriptonite. Bravo!

I love glowy, can you ever have too much?

Only if you live in a place where you notice all the cats have two heads and the dogs have 3 tails...

Darn. No comments from Mashie on mine :(

Well I am going ahead with the bay covers this weekend (provided I can find mesh)

and will look at how I am going to do that large boxy window!

Kodiak:

I think this mod is looking GREAT! Don't listen to any of the detractors, they just don't know what they are talking about. Keep the stipes! Go for it with all the Glowies! The camo idea on the window is a good one as well. Either that or the green gradient effect.

Keep it up, and keep on posting!

Maybe you could work some of this into the design? For example, something green and glowy on the window? I know, you could splatter a bunch of it on the window to make it look like a chemical explosion inside of your case.

Splatter looks better, but getting it just right would be a pain. I think that fogging the lower part of the window with the green UV paint would be fairly easy to do, and easier to control the outcome. It would also be cool if you used that clear UV paint, and then it glowed only when the UV light was on.

I also like the broken vial idea. Can you get UV silicone? A pool of that in the bottom of your case with a broken, or tipped-over vial in it would really add to you theme, and would give a good reason for having the fogged window.

As for P-choppin skills, all it takes is time and experimentation (it also helps if someone pays you to do it :D )

The paint that I linked is clear, it only shows up when UV light shines on it. I was actually looking for the UV spray paint, thinking it would be a cool way to do the green fade on the bottom of the window. However, SVC doesn't sell that any more. Instead, they have the UV paint that I linked. I think that a nice splatter would look cooler than the green fade. Plus, when you turn off the UV light, it would just be a clear window. That paint is water based, so if a splatter didn't turn out right you could clean it off and try again. Oh, and it is offered in green, red, yellow, and blue.

Your link is the clear paint I was referring to. I was worried about ruining the window if you could only have one shot at a splash look, but it's waterbased? Excellent!
:D Splash away!

I will see what I can come up with this weekend ^_^

Since I cannot do much during the week (being that the only time I am near my
computer and awake is about 3 hours a work day.. eating 1.5 hours.. shower
getting ready for work .5 spending time with the woman i live with.. 1 hour.. ) err.
I have been planning my next mod. but that is a ways off.

will cost an..... load... will have subpar parts. but its like nothing else anyone has
ever done before. and.. it will be a f0lding m4273r (in 1337 speak that is)

but yea. this weekend.. -> window and ->bay covers.

Just my 0.05 Cents :D
I would leave the Yellow and Black Stripes, that is if you did not remove them already,
Reason being is that, anywhere you have hazardous material or a Hazardous working enviroment be with Chemical or heavey machinery. You will find the yellow an black stripping to indicate a hazard and or for the use of safety equipment.

Dre

that case owns. i like the yellow and black stripes myself, the camo would be monotinous without them

Small update. Had a busy night, taking a friend to the
airport etc etc fiance fell asleep on the couch.. so..

no powertools.

bummer.

but. doesnt mean i cant do electronics!

(they are UV LED's although hard to tell in the picture, and they are Yellow fans,
not green  )

Today did a little shopping. more sand paper and spray paint
(my god i go through it. but its worth it... ) and some mesh that
I *hope* will work... Also got a free b0xen, so messing around
with that tonight (Just an old emachines p3 1ghz.. ) but it f0lds.
and will be the next mod I do for the fiance (hmm. she says
purple or green... and will be doing hummingbirdish designs..)
so not much work today, but tomorow will be

cutting
sanding
painting
fan voltage changing
adding led's
and some other stuffs.

I know this is probably too late but for the window u could have like a water window with either little drops of glowy stuff slowy going from the top to the bottom along one side and gettin sucked back up to the top to drip down again or just a water window 1/4 full of glowy with or without bubbles. also, keep the yellow and black stripes.
