Why is Monarch's 3500+ 90nm price sky high?

Buy from a company that doesn't price gouge. Zipzoomfly has that CPU for $268 retail with free shipping.

newegg did the same thing a few weeks ago. one day they were $260 the next $340  (or something like that). its just companies being greedy. thats all.

Don't buy from them and send them a nice friendly email explaining your position. I guarantee you that if they get a few thousand of these emails, they'll stop the price gouging. I don't know why there's a supply problem in the U.S. I can buy 3500's a dime a dozen here in Canada. It's usually the other way around! :) Right now they cost me $269 U.S for a retail 3500+ from my supplier.

They pulled that crap with me. I got a price quote on 12/9 for $269ish, thought about it for a few days, decided to get it, only to discover that they were out of stock. I said damn, and looked around for one elsewhere. The very next day they were back in stock, for $315...being really antsy for an upgrade, I decided to bite the bullet and get it (12/16).

Guess what? A couple days after Xmas, they now have some for $315 on thier site, AND $279. WTF is that all about? Sounds like Xmas greed to me. I'll keep that in mind next time I'm considering buying in December.

that was way before christmas. I'd say lack of supply and high demand is really why they went up

it was $251 at monarch, which is not considered by many as "non reputable"

Just wait though next week, they'll go down again. I've been watching monarch's pricing on that chip for a few weeks now and I'm pretty sure it varies with how much stock they have. It has cycled 2 or 3 times from prices in the 250s to prices in the 280s or 90s and back down again.

OMG, companies that dont sell products for less than they bought them for are THE DEVIL how dare they try and make money.. How dare they try and make some extra cash when demand goes up and supply down? How dare they FORCE US to not go elsewhere and choose a better price?

Greedy Bastards!

Yes. How dare they punish people for their hobby by charging huge markups and then on the other hand talk about customer service and loyalty.

customer service has nothing to do with price.
loyalty? LOL. Loyalty to a company is dead. Welcome to the 21st century.

Did someone force anybody to buy it? Did someone force anybody to not look around? Why is it a companies fault because people are lazy or stupid?

Why do people take for granted all the advantages a capitalistic, consumer driven market creates, and yet cry like babies when the prices aren't always what they expect all the time?

Grow up.

wow, you should go to sleep, then wake up, and realize that its not just "extra cash" its a regoddamdiddlyiculus 50 bux per each chip, that got tacked on in the last week, dont even get me started on video card price gouging. There is a difference between supply and demand and price gouging, asshat.

loyalty? dead? wtfblomekthnxbai im not here to start an argument over which is better but i've bought amd forever, even with faster intels available at the same price. Tons of people are loyal to car manufacturers. Where'd you get your info buddy?

grow up for not liking price gouging, wow.. just wow..

As someone who used to buy my components from the same distributors that i'm sure newegg and monarch use, I can tell you, that it's most likely NOT price gouging.

My supplier [techdata] used to give me what I call "rollercoaster" prices

The reason why newegg still has the chip for $253 and monarch is at $300 is because newegg probably still has some processors that they paid $230 for.. where monarch just reordered at $270.

Currently, ingram micro actually lists that processor at $319 dollars..

The reason I stopped using true DISTRIBUTORS (which newegg and monarch are NOT) is because of that very problem. I could find things cheaper from newegg than I could from ingram, techdata, or SED..

I've bought tons of cases, for example, from monarch, because they had the best prices for a long time.
Far below what my "distributors" could offer me
Lian Li PC2100B for $400 right now

Im an asshat now? Because of temporarily fluxes in prices for high end HOBBY components you dont even need makes you cranky? Whatever. Go move to some third world country where you have to decide which member of your family gets to eat today.

Get some persepctive on the way the world really works then think about whether or not you have a right to cry. Better yet, how about you start YOUR own online retailer business and let us know how it goes?

its not just the price that pisses people off, its the lack of a good reason for it. Third world shit? wtf thats really relevant seeing as we dont live in a third world country. Since when was crying about shit a right, wtf u nazi

From the 2 pagesof replies on this thread,You hit the nail on the head.It seems to me it's based on the suppliers, which inturn affect the cost and the companys turn over rate of that product at a given price.I think the other part is just pure business. It's like buying gas for $2.10 / gallon at one station ,and 5 miles down the road it's $1.99 / gallon.PATIENCE is truey a virtue.

Well I bougth this procesor from monarch last week at $251, I pricewatched , pricegrabbered and neoseekered it =) and every where was 290> I think those were just leftovers of a cheaper order.

Also theyre not 253 at newegg, those are .130nm, if you want of those monarch is selling them for $247 oem, as were the $251 3500+ .90nm OEM

just do a better research on prices, if only one seller have that cheap and everywhere is 50bucks more for sure the prices will match sonner or later.

woohooo!!!

I emailed monarch last week, and I just got a reply back from them:

My apologies for the delay. Yes, we will do the old price. Please
contact xxx in sales @ 1-800-xxx-xxxx tommorrow and he can put in the
order for you. Thank you.

guess I just got lucky! TWO BIG THUMBS UP FOR MONARCH :)
