The graph you link doesnt show minimum frmes, which is what my pictures show (or close to it). There isnt anything wrong with my pics, they are in game, just playing the game. Timedemos also dont have AI, and dont truely represent real gameplay numbers.
The claim that "6800GT can run HL2 at max details, max resolution, 4xAA/16xAF with no problem" is not accurate. At least not to me. FPS is subjective, I dont consider frames in the 20's to be "no problem". And my GT is clocked at 430/1.18 (higher causes HL2 to crash
). Much past a Ultra, so its not really even a GT anymore. I didnt read the whole thread, about his "cocky" attitude. Just the last few posts about people laughing cause he paid $600 for a video card. Which is why I said $600 isnt a lot for some people.

Nobody in their right mind would say that an x800 XT-PE isn't fast as hell. The question is, is buying one really "smart" in terms of bang for the buck? Are you really getting $100 extra performance over an x800 XT? Or could you just watercool an x800 XT or 6800 Ultra for about the same total money and go even FASTER?

How well does your GT handle HL2 at 1280x1024? I'm curious cause that's my 17" screen's max res, and I'm hoping to be able to play get playable fps with 4xAA/8xAF (card set to "Quality") using the rig in my sig.
I havnt tried to be honest. I have a 2001FP, its native res is 1600x1200. I also have a 1800FP setup along side it, but havent tried to game on it. My GT handles 1600x1200 pretty well, just with 4x/8x it drops too low for my liking. 2x/4x is pretty good, but still drops in the 30's from time to time. If I can feel the game jerk cause of low frames, I dont like it. I would rather play with no AA and have smooth gameplay, than with and have it jerky from time to time. At 1600x1200, jaggies arent too bad.. but I can still see them while playing. I have been very happy with my GT, but I would like a XT to play HL2 thru. :/

I looked at the reasons I wanted a new card, looked at the factors involved, the performance gains, hassle saved by not flashing, the WAY BETTER overclockability of xt's than flashed ones (look at cornelous, 631 core on STOCK COOLING)
And I determined that it was worth the price to me.
I DONT FUCKING CARE IF ITS NOT WORTH IT TO YOU, ITS WORTH IT TO ME!!!
