everything seems smooth but when I pan left or right I get this kind of ripple in the video in the middle of the screen.. didnt notice it on of the benchmarks I ran and this is the first game ive tried to play.. I thought 1280x1024 at medium might be to much for my card so I dropped it down to 1024x768 but it was the same.. ran smooth but still had this funny ripple if you were to pan the area .. especially if you tried to pan to fast. Is there a patch or driver for this? Ive read there is a beta driver out some like better.

What you're talking about MIGHT be horizonal tearing...and that's when your videocard is rendering more FPS than your monitor can refresh so it sort of tears down the middle, or 'ripples' if you will. If there's a v-sync option somewhere enable it and it'll go away...I personally don't mind it because vsync will drop yo down to 30fps if you cant get exactly 60fps...just maybe up the detail so you can tax ur videocard so it keeps it around 60fps and the tearing should go away

So if that's the case, ur videocard isn't an issue, it's just too darn fast for the settings :)

That ripple effect you're talking about sounds like image tearing... caused by a disjunction between the fps of the game and your screen refresh rate (happens a lot on LCDs). Turn on Vsync and it should go away.

edit: damn, beat to the punch :p

Thats messed up.. I even know what V sync is and It didnt click in my head!!! I bet yall are right tho so I will give it a try.. it should sync to the 60hz/60fps of my monitor.. I have ran into this in the past years ago with a voodoo card lol.. ok ill give it a shot.. thanks!

This common with LCDs (and their lower refresh rates)? I noticed it on a fairly new Compaq (with an LCD pannel as well) the other day at CompUSA (they had it running D3). I'm still hesitant to chuck my old 19" CRT, mostly due to the prices but partially due to this and color concerns (I work with photos a lot).

If you are concerned with colors, go check out Sony's new LCD's with X-Brite (something like that) technology....both my workstation and laptop have it, and the image it makes looks just like an LCD....hard to describe, but go check it out urself

This is very common on LCD monitors with high response time. That's why CRTs are still loved by gamers :)

there was a vsync setting in the game.. I set it to Yes and all is good! Runs perfect!
