i originally did it through the website, then i called and got it through the phone and everythings all set
 
i ordered thru the link on the 1st page and i only got the order acknoledgement, i called several dell #s and they couldn't find the order with my phone #, so i guess i'm thinking that the order didnt go thru? since i didnt login or anything for the order

what should i do?

any specific #'s i should try that worked for you guys?

i guess ill just wait 2 weeks to see if i get my order confirmation...

UPDATE: i ordered thru 1-800-456-3355x68938 , the guy setup me up and i have my order# as well as a customer#... mine saiz it will ship on the 24th, i am crossing my fingers :D

If you cant go through the main pages to get this deal then how did all those other ppl who did get confirmation emails get it? I guess i'll call in 2morrow morning to check if my order went through although it hasn't been two business days for me yet since i ordered at 11pm on friday. blah.

i put my order in thru the website and i got my order acknowledgement email later that day and then either the next day or two days later i got my order confirmation with the shipping date and customer number and everything. i'm not too worried

On all of these deals where it seems "too good to be true," you should always order through a sales rep, because then:

1. You get a customer number right away.
2. You can usually even get an order number right away.
3. Your order processing is immediate, versus having to wait through the web guys.
4. Since your order is processed faster, there's a better chance that it will get shipped out if it really is a mistake.
5. You're helping the sales rep and yourself, because you increase his sales figures, and you have a point of contact if anything goes awry with the order.
6. The web order processors are generally assholes.

I speak from experience.

The chick on the phone said she cant ge the deal through the main page. She had to do a dicount for me.

Also, I agree that ordering with a rep is best bet. I already have a confirmation email with ship date and all.
 
I called the number that FuManChuu posted, selected option #1 - small business, and got an Indian sales rep on the phone. It was very slow going but finally got an order completed for an A0381920. The cost was $416.66 + tax with free shipping. Received a customer number and an order confirmation number.

The guy said the card would ship in a week.
 
yep, I finally got an order through with a sales rep. It took some chatting for them to realize that I had placed an order and it didn't work and stuff, but the phone stuff worked. I have a customer # and order # now and it's supposed to be here at the end of august.
 
Same here.....initial order from the website didn’t work, but calling the sales rep did. Here’s crossing my fingers….hope for the best….expect extreme disappointment. :p

Like I was saying.....expect disappointment. It figures that would be the case. Hell, in November they should be shipping the 512MB cards.......
 
These threads always start off with good intentions and end with a sad story. Hopefully the card actually ships sometime in the next month or so for all you people who ordered them.

bah, guess its time to finally cancel the gateway order, sit on this dell deal for another month or so, and start shopping for 6800gt's again :/ f, i knew i shouldnt have canceled that 400 dollar evga 6800 gt :>
 
Early today I talked to a rep and they told me the ETA on the cards was mid September. So who knows what the right ETA is but I doubt it's soon.

I ordered back on July 30 (you could order it on the phone back then but not off the web site, also there wasn't a discount for me at least) and back then they told me it would ship on Aug 13 it still hasn't.
 
I'm on the phone with Dell again...

I cancelled a few days ago and my order still shows up as backordered on their website.
 
CRAP, now evga 6800 GT's price has gone up 50 bucks and or sold out everywhere... i can't win this getting a graphics card game :/

ok i was thinking about it and i will try to buy the PE in december.. im not wasting my time pre-ordering here canceling there an so on. December it is. (no way im getting nvidia I personally rather wait some time).

should have been looking yesterday. I ordered my beauty in the afternoon yesterday, and it shipped the same day from Gameve for $405 w/ free shipping! Gameve is getting another shipment next week, and so is evga.com... so keep your eyes open.
 
Go to newegg ladies! They got evga 6800GTs for around 420 free shipping, im typing this at 1:30am, when i hit process order i got this

After seeing the thread here, especially the helpful messages from Fumanchu, I ordered the Radeon X800XTPE on Dell's website on 8/14. I got the preliminary message but no follow up "within 2 days" confirmatory message. I called this afternoon, 8/18, and spoke to the parts department. .

He checked the records and found no card ordered. Next he took the order for the card, apologized for the failed web order, put me on hold for a minute while called the warehouse and confirmed they were in stock, authorized the discount price of $416.66 plus state taxes of $38.54, and also authorized free priority shipping.

I now have an order number, word that the cards are in stock, and an estimated priority ship date on or before 8/26/04. Right now I think this is looking really positive.

Even though I got my A0381920 ordered through a telephone rep and got an order confirmation and customer number, I think the odds are slim on getting the card. At least without a quarter-year backorder or something. I'd love to have that statement proven wrong, but... <shrug>

The Dell part number "A0381920" has completely vanished off their web site, which seems to be another bad sign.

If the order falls through, I won't be too surprised.

Why not put in a preorder for the XT PE, wait five days and see if Dell ships, and if not, cancel and get the GT? It's looking good that they actually will ship soon, thanks to Greeps's information in addition to Tim from HardOcp's confirmation. I'd perfer to get a better card for less money. :rolleyes:
 
well i ordered last night thru a sales rep and they said it was in stock and should ship on aug-26. i checked my order status this morning and it said that it would ship by the estimated date. then I just checked right now at 1pm and now it says backordered DAMNIT!
 
I'm guessing the reason they say backordered is because they are not shipping immediaetly but by the earliest the 24th. When i look at my orders by customer number mine still shows estimated shipping date on the 24th.. so we'll see come next tuesday :)

if they do ship, then we'll all have likely the fastest video card for HL2 likely by the time it comes out... I'd say thats pretty cool.
 
When I check my status using my CUSTOMER NUMBER, I still see that my card is set to ship on the 23rd. Are those of you who have received the "delayed til the 30th" e-mail seeing the 30th as a ship date when you check your order status (using CUSTOMER NUMBER) online?

I spoke to a person at dell and he has informed me that ati wont even be shipping the cards till atleast the 10th of september.

I'm not sure how true it is, but I'm pretty sure it is. He actually seems to know about it. He's even waiting for one to come out so he can snag one. ^_^
