Hey... thought that since everyone else gets their one "what rig do i need to run (insert game) at (insert fucking huge number) FPS" i would use mine on minesweeper...

What's the IQ setting that you'd like to shoot for? More info is needed before a recommendation can be made.

Dude, you gotta max that ram to get minesweeper running smooth. That game is hella choppy on 512mb.

LMAO I reccomend at least 2GB of PC4000 and a X1000XTSuperPE LOLOLOLOLOL

As you can see my x800pro is clearly not powerful enough to play minesweeper at acceptable framerates, only managing 1 fps at .... whatever res minesweeper plays at. No aa/af.

I don't have a problen running it. See my sig for specs.

WOW! 1PFS. man, what overclock on your videocard do u have? Sheesh I've been searching through everything and benchmarking everything to try to push out to 1fps.

< picks his hair out of frustration >

did you try that image caching tweak? i mean, you've probably only got 256mb on that sucker. if you read the latest press release, you'll see that you need at least 512mb to turn on "beginner" level without stuttering.

this tweak uses part of your system memory as an image cache to suppliment your video memory. i mean, you've got to be storing 20 16x16 sprites in memory to be displaying that thing! not to mention the overhead from the windows environment (you know how memory-intensive those XP visuals are).

anyways, go into your MinesweeperConfig.cfg file and change the following lines:

seta r_useCache "1"
seta r_imageCacheMegs "512"
seta r_imageCacheMin "5120"

i did that and got like a 2-3fps boost when left-clicking on a square. keep in mind that if you click on a mine, though, you'll probably experience some choppiness and it'll stay at around 1fps.

good luck!

alright i did some benchmarking with my radeon 9500 as a reference so that you can see what you can expect out of your system.

i am running the latest build of minesweeper (5.1) and the latest omega drivers for my video card

here are some of the results of the testing

My 6800 Ultra is having problems with it. I can play on beginner mode and avg around 35FPS but if I try expert, I'm down to 15 :(

classic... wow... im just glad people can still have fun on forums :D

Dude, I bought the wrong card, the Radeon 9500 is getting more fps than the Geforce 6800... ;)

Ok, let the nv/ati war start as usually before the end of the 1st page and then rage on for 5 more pages of why the cards perform differently!! :p

My FX5900 gives me 5% more fps than a 9600XT. OMG Nv pwns ATI!! :) lol

Its b/c fx5900 displays the mine textures with sm2.0a instead of 2.0b like ATI.
I cant wait for my 6800GT to use SM3.0 with it for ultrashadow details on the mines & question marks for ultra realism!!

OMG Nv put the HAMMER DOWN on ATI!!

I got my 9800 Pro the other day and fired up Minesweeper. It crashes to desktop... :(

Can anyone say bad code?

Gotta get DX 9.0c

shut down background services and unplug all other unimportant electrical devices from power supply like cdroms, lights, extra hard drives... then you up the volts to your vDimm and vCore

I have decided to wait till I get my X800pe from Gateway before I install minesweeper. As soon as I do though all your FPS records in Minesweeper are bound to get BURNANATED!!!
