Show off your networking gear!

Check the FS section. I got mine from a guy in White Lake (I think it was White Lake) for $20. It sucked moving it in one of the major snowfalls of the season though.

Apart from that, I'm not really sure. :( Sorry.

Check out this open rack:

Link

It's only 16.5" deep so you'll need the kit to extend it to 22.5" if you want to put a rackmount case in there. But be aware that you can't put in a case deeper then 22.5 which means a maximum motherboard size of 12x10" (generally).

The board size depends on the configuration of the chassis. You can have full size boards with that depth dimension.

Does that mean a standard ATX motherboard wouldn't work?

No, it all depends on the layout of the case. Some cases have space for hotswap drives, cdroms, extra drive spaces... all those takes up space which could mean that you are stuck with a smaller board... however, some cases have less of the above and allows you to use a standard board.

Here we go!

AtomicFire, you need more of those 3com's? I have a bunch...

Can you PM me with what you got? I actually got the upper superstack from you a while ago! The lower one was given to me from a friend, its broken (fails power-on tests) so I use it for spare parts.

Thats sweet, dont get me wrong but do you really need that for a home enviroment? I mean that would be nice for a small buisness.

Here's the general overview:

Nice networks guys! I'm in the process of re-structuring my setup but I will post pictures soon.

Also, if anyone wants 3Com Switches or Hubs (gigabit and fast ethernet, managed or unmanaged), let me know, I have a bunch that I would like to get rid off... they are all rack mountable too. I have 3Com 1000's, 1100's, 3000's, 3300's, 3500's, 3900's and ton of other models.

My email is [email protected] and my aim is ockie0107

Pretty sure hes using Visio 2003, also if you have specific hardware you can usually google for the stencils so its the actual hardware in the visio.

I'll post a picture of my network.

I'm not done yet.. still working on it.

What you see there is a 3Com Switch 630, Switch 630, PS HUB 40 Hub (for Orange interface), Baseline Switch (for Green interface), and a Smoothwall.

Still to come, 4 Dually machines, 1 Cobalt RAQ, and 2x 1400's 2U UPS units.

Btw, if anyone wants any 3com switches, I have a bunch forsale. Email me [email protected]

Did you use Viso to make that diagram? Just wondering since it looks nicer then most.

Yep. Visio 2003 using the Detailed Network Diagram (metric units). They've got some nice object models in this version of Visio :)

Might have to look at getting that. Since I am a student I should be able to get a decent discount.

Ockie you have mail

Could you send that email again, I accidentally deleted it :(

Also, I'm selling two 3Com SuperStack II Switch 630 (3C16984) 24 Port 10/100 Managable switches for $75 shipped each. The same models are shown in my rack (top two switches you see in that picture).

Thanks for replying back, $75 is a really good price I just dont have that kinda money right now. Also I really have no need for 24 ports right now since I only have 2 computers in my house. How are you using so many ports for a house?

I just talked with him and he has 1-4 ports per room and 20 in the basement for lan purposes

Yeppers. I tend to move my gear around alot to accomidate the higher temps in the summer and just because I'm bored ;) Right now, I'm using about 10 ports 24/7, and I continually add more machines/devices.

Also, when I throw lans, I invite about 20+ buddies and we all just plug into the walls... it makes it much easier on management.

Right now I'm working on upgrading my personal machine and adding in another, once I've completed those things, I will upgrade on the network some more and make it a little more practical.

Odd question, but what the hell is that lone yellow cable going to? It looks so out of place. :D

I use colors in my cable to detirmine the length and purpose.

The yellow cable is my green line from the smoothwall box :)

I'm reworking my setup, I'm not satisfied with this layout.

Very nice color-coding you have there. Whenever I try any color-coding like that, I can never follow through. :D

Are you looking for more of those hubs? I have 11 of them I'm trying to get rid of. I also have the management units for them. Oh, and I have a few modules for them too.
