that case is yummy...

And only $500. :)

But it is a great case. You can almost live inside it.

Nothing is better than 3 x 120mm fans. Feels like a hurricane inside the box!

Can you belive it also comes with a 120mm fan for the blow hole!!

Heh, 9700Pro in a file server eh? :D

Yeah... kinda excessive I know. I haven't gotten around to taking it out and putting in an older 8500LE to replace it.

Ah! another person with that "Too much money" problem. You know, I hear sharing alleviates the pain.

Back when 700MHz was the shiznat this use to be my main system. Then made a T-Bird 1.33GHz box and turned the dual 700 into my server where right now it serves as my file, ftp, and web server.

Windows 2000 Adv Server
Dual P3 700MHz
Tyan Tiger 100
512MB PC100 memory
8GB WD system drive
34GB SCSI Raid 5 Array

I'm currently working on a new dually which can be seen here

After I get the new project up and running I'm probably going to upgrade the dual 700. New board, cpu's, and look into expanding my array.

Finally got my [H] account back up and working..so its a good time to post pics of my dually I guess :D

First, one of the 'station':

They work great! The rack tips a couple degrees (thanks to the carpet) but they don't flex at all. They came damn near perfectly straight out when I had it on hardwood at my old place.

If you PIF me some of that RAM you've got I'll tell ya where you can find some.... :D

If you pay, I'll even ship em to ya.

Dual AthlonXP-M 2400+ 35watt Bartons @ 2.4GHz & 1.7v -- (133x18)
Gigabyte GA-7DPXDW-P
512MB PC3200 Kingston ValueRam
2x 120GB HDDs (Maxtor & Samsung)
Toshiba DVD & CD-R/RW Combo Drive (32x/?/?)
Smart & Friendly CD TurboWriter RW (6x/4x/24x)
VantecAeroflow HSF
Vantec Stealth 520w PSU

2x 80mm fans
2x 120mm fans

Case -- Built by yours-truely & houses TWO computers -- not complete though.
Wiremanagement...um...oh well...the fans still spin...

More pics to come in the future when I finish off the case and begin working on something smaller and that weighs under 60lbs.

I know where you get em ;) I've been in touch with the seller for quite a while... just didn't think that those rails work on two post racks (like compaq, dell, and ibm).

You don't have your rack bolted down?!

EDIT: oh, you mean you'll tell me where to find the rails or the case? if it is the rails, I don't know where to find them and if they are cheap enough them I'd want some :)

I figured you knew where to get the case (Though I see how that was unclear). The rails are OEM dynaslides...all you have to do is punch a couple new holes in them and they work perfectly....2 post or 4. Technically, though, you're supposed to have 2 sets of them as they're "2U only" rails... BS by my estimation. IIRC they're around $100 a pair and I can get em locally.

And no, the rack isn't bolted down to the floor. Its bolted to a thick plywood round that's painted up...and sits on ball bearings on another, larger plywood round. It spins :D
It also goes nowhere with those UPSs (~150LBS) and that Amp (~50LBS) in there, even with the case fully extended, even on carpet.

You can use them with just about any configuration and they seem to hold quite a bit of wieght.

Care to PIF and/or Sell and/or trade that RAID? Its an overkill but I could REALLY use something to RAID My X15's :(

Oh..and junky Supermicro? Unpossible!

EDIT: PIF dust-collecting quad too. It'd make a nice Maya renderbox for me :p

18psi, i tried selling it... it was mainly droolware and nobody would touch it.
i would sell it now, but i am in japan and wont be back in the states till mid sept =P

but if you are still interested, i'll note it when i get back.

and as far as that supermicro goes....
i use nix on it and every hour, the time is off by 3-5 minutes.. had to cronjob ntpdate every hour XD

fair enough..though I'll be honest, odds are I couldn't afford it anyway. I could MAYBE offer enough gear in trade though...

:( @ the supermicro too..

Why not just run ntpd? Run ntpdate once at boot then run ntpd afterwards.

i want to get rid of it (both the dell and the adaptec card) asap... before price drops on it even more >.<
if you are in the pleasanton area, i am sure we can work something out =P

sweeeeeeeeet :)
LMK when you're back in town and we'll see what I can do...maybe I can mow your lawn for a few years or something to pay off the whole lot of gear
