Ive got a large chunk of that visco elastic shit that that company tempurpedic uses for their bed matresses...you know the nasa approved ones :p
anyways the stuff is really neat..pretty dense but light...how well would this stuff actually work for mounting a water pump on it as a viberation absorber?

The "nasa" appoved material. Hahaha. From the website it says, "Soon after the NASA Press Conference, Tempur-Pedic was licensed by the United States Space Foundation to use the official "Certified Technology" seal on our product packaging and marketing materials." They fail to mention what the "space foundation" is, because its a small loosly based non-profit orginization for educators in colorado. Interesting....

Back onto subject:

I assume the only way to dampen the pump very well would be to imbed it somehow down into the material. Having it sit on top would still allow it to vibrate quite a bit I would imagine. Can you fabricate a mount to kinda clamp it down into the material?

That's what I use, i just have my pump sitting on top of it on the bottom of my case. It works pretty well, it doesn't rattle against anything now and you can't really hear any vibrations through the case either.

go for it... NASA or not, the stuff is great.

I've tried other kinds of foam that didn't help a lot.
