Go buy a 9800Xt 256mb or wait for the next gen

Since my sapphire 9800XT UE is not working, I'm going to go get another card. Should i go ahead and get another 9800xt or wait for the next gen? If you think i should go ahead get another 9800xt then which one?

BTW, I currently have in my spare stash... Gf3ti, Gf4ti4600, radeon 9600 pro, and AIW 9800 pro that's currently running as a replacement card and a broken 9800XT :(
 
What did you do to your XT? OC it too much? If you can RMA it, I'd say do so (unless you don't mind spending money on a new card).

If you plan to get a new card I'd say wait for the next gen. You've got a good temporary card so it just makes sense to wait.
 
i got it from a member here and i had it working then it stopped working. This card was his review sample so i'm not sure how that works with rma.
 
Iunno, but if you've got everything with it you could probably just RMA it back to Sapphire.
 
I called fedex and they told me that they can only reimburse me with the price that i paid for the card instead of the price that it was insured for.

I just emailed sapphire hopefully i get some good news from them
 
if they give you the money back, id suggest that you wait for the next gen of cards

it will be a while before i get the money back. Until then i wanna get another vid card so that i can make a htpc with the aiw9800pro.
 
I recommend you RMA it, doesnt hurt to try. Then once the next gen cards come out get one and sell the XT once you get the rma back.

I really think you should be able to survive 1 or 2 months with a 9600 or even ti-4600 ;)

Here is the funny part. I play only one game like a religion, CS. LOL. But i don't mind mixing it up a little once in a while.

Yeah then you really need an 9800 XT to make ut run at 150 fps :p :D

If you got the money just buy it don´t ask noone will think less of you

That's why I like buying 'Built By ATI' cards.

Their RMA policy kicks ass. Mail them the card - no box or anything else, just the card - and if it's theirs, they fix it or replace it, no questions asked.

For the patient, that means you can really, REALLY score with Newegg refurbs.

I just bought an All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro from Newegg for about $200 - refurb. Of the 4 refurbs I've got, this is the first that didn't work right "out of the box". Sending it back to ATI, they are replacing. Sure, it takes a little longer.

But for $200 for a $400 card? Yeah, I'll wait!

i was just realizing that i haven't been playing anything else but cs. I do play ut2k4 occasionally and i really wanna play farcry. D3 and HL2(i have 2 coupons) are also on my list.

Well Far Cry plays fine on my sig. 1024x768 everything maxed. Don´t run with any AA well perhaps 2x but this game really don´t need it to look spectacular. Everything is so detailed anyway so there aren´t much jaggies.

Believe me you will be blown away by the graphics really. They are by far the best available today. And the game is great too. Makes perfectly good use of that awesome game engine.
 
i decided to wait and get the hdtv version of the aiw when it comes out. thanks for the advice
