Has anyone had a chance to get a Mobile AMD XP2500+ and over clock this bad boy to over 3500+? I going to be getting one soon and was wondering if anyone else had some experience with them yet.

I recently purchased an XP Mobile 2600+ CPU from NewEgg and I have it in an Asus A7N8X-E motherboard with two 256MB Corsair PC3200 XMS memory modules. Right now it's running at 2,563 Mhz (12.5 x 205). In this board it seems I can't use multipliers above 12.5 without doing some kind of modification, so I'm limited by my memory which doesn't seem to want to go above 205 Mhz. I have the vcore at 1.75 volts. This is a water cooled rig. It's a dedicated F@H machine and I tend to be a little conservative with OCing on my F@H machines to keep them stable. I like this CPU very much and I would buy more if I didn't already have to many machines boosting my electric bill into the stratosphere. ;)

Is it possible to run these mobile athlons in a dually board? I really need to jump on that bandwagon you know.

from what I have read on an overclockers forum these can be mod'd and ran in a dually board.

Has anyone tested the speed of these chips in folding when overclocked to 2.5Ghz+ compard to Intel's P4?

i'll most likely be getting one soon...I will post some time per frames on it once it has chewed away on a few proteins

Thank you, I'm really interested in how fast the AMDs are at that speed with folding.

Anyone know what the power consumption is? I was under the impression that the Mobiles had lower consumption.

LINKS!! We want LINKS!!
SWMBO only notices "boxes" duallies are good!

the mobile processors run at a standard 1.45v some folks have gotten these up to 3000+ 3200+ speeds by leaving the voltage at 1.45, then crank it up to 1.65 & 1.7 to get to run at 2600-2700mhz

All the 2600-2700mhz I've seen are with 1.85+ voltages. As for these babies running in dual mode, look over at the www.overclockers.com SMP forum and 2cpu.com

FOLD ON!!!

I think I'm going to have to look into to this to give some new life to the UD setup i have going now ....sounds great :)

Hello to the [H]orde.. I know i hardly ever post.

Just glad to be on the same team with the rest of you.

Take care all.

I've been messing with the mobile XP's for about 4-5 months now and I read and participated in the first thread at overclockers on running the mobiles in smp. The guy that did it initially had problems getting them recognized as smp capable procs due to the non-standard layout of the L5 bridges. The normal L5 bidge layout for a desktop XP is like this - l : : : and the MP is like this - l : : l . The L5 layout on the mobile 2400 and 2600 procs(the ones I own) are like this - l : l l and the bios doesn't see it as a viable smp setup. You have to carefully scrape off that fake pcb shit over the 3rd L5 bridge and then cut or blow that bridge. This will then enable the board to see the mobiles as MP procs, but only at a 6 multiplier. You then either have to mod the L3 bridges to the multi you want or do a pinmod or socket mod to get your desired multiplier.

I'm presently in the process of modding my 2-2400m procs to upgrade my K7D with and get rid of the 2 Tbred A 1700's in it. I should have the second proc modded by tomorrow but that machine is running at a friend's shop so I probably won't get a chance to do the actual machine upgrade until next week sometime.

EDIT: BTW, all 3 of my mobile procs all came with the L11 bridges cut for a default vcore of 1.575v, according to ocinside.de's interactive guide for Tbred and Barton.
