In the past, I built all of my PCs. Now I need to upgrade my old PC before it dies and I'm planning on going with Windows 7, but I don't have time to build it myself.
I don't want to go with a Dell or HP type shop. I want to buy from a place where I have a selection of parts and can have...
Didn't mean to do that. Just wanted to let you know. I saw both and while the Dell is much better, wasn't impressed by the gaming. It's noticeable in FPS games. I play Battlefield a lot (usually 1942) and started getting killed more with the Dell. I think it was a frame or two behind the...
I got the Dell 27" and the Viewsonic and I sent the Dell back. The Dell was a much nicer and more expensive monitor (about twice the cost). It was also slower at gaming. Noticeably slower. I decided to save a money and go with the better gaming monitor. I've had it for almost a year now...
I just got my second VX2835VM from Costco. The first few days it had the noise problem. Whenever I would turn down the brightness it would go from a constant hum to a on/off hum. Then suddenly it disappeared just as I was getting ready to unplug it and send it back! :p
So, I'm doing some...
Yeah Dell is claiming that they released a few A01 versions by mistake, but they said they'd taken care of it a few weeks back, so I'm starting to get suspicious. They are starting to crop up in lots of places...
I do use an external source to turn it on and off with. I've done that for years. Ever since I had to pay about $150 to get a $5 on/off switch replaced on a monitor. Now I use an external that costs about $20. Pretty stupid of Dell to set it up this way.
Thank you for letting me know. :)
Thanks m104. I'll check it out if I get the chance.
BAD NEWS! Costco.com is out of the Viewsonic 27.5"! I don't know if they will get more in stock or not. If anyone sees them back in stock at Costco, please let me know. I don't want to buy it elsewhere since I suspect the noise...
Well I took the Viewsonic back today due to the noise issues. I'll be ordering a second one though. After extensive testing today, I decided that if I can get the Viewsonic to work, it will be an acceptable solution for it's price point. I hooked both the Dell and the Viewsonic up to my ATI...
Viewing angles are pretty poor on the Viewsonic. If you want to use it to watch movies you should sit in front of it. On the Dell they are better by far.
You're right about it not showing up in the pictures for the Viewsonic. It does show up on the monitor, but like everything else is darker than the Dell.
I'm not sure yet which one I'll keep. Here's the way I see it right now
Viewsonic
+price (saves me about $500)
+rich color
+faster...
I've done some more gaming on the Viewsonic and a friend has been playing on the Dell. He says the Dell is fine, but he's nowhere near as picky as I am. I'm going to try to play on both of them and I'll post what I notice. Right now the Viewsonic seems slightly faster to me with less...
I'm sorry guys, but school just started this week and I have been buried! I finally got some time last night to set both monitors up and take a few pictures. Here they are:
I'll post the Viewsonic pic first and then the same picture on the Dell.
(Please note, that these are on different...
