    P2V SBS 2011

No- it has always pointed only to itself. And when you first boot the new VM, you have to reconfigure all network settings anyway, since it sees it as a new NIC- std p2v stuff.

    P2V SBS 2011

Got a question for the "been there done that" crowd- planning a P2V of SBS 2011 at a client to replace old hardware. We've done it successfully at other sites with no real issues, but.... this site is a little different. The others were all single DC environments- single office, other member...

    KB3097877- get rid of it!

Tore my hair out on a few clients this morning, until it was revealed KB3097877 was the culprit. http://www.zdnet.com/article/outlook-crashing-after-windows-security-updates-you-are-not-alone/

Windows 10 Tech Preview is available

VM on Hyper-V- Seems pretty familiar so far- 8.1 with some UI changes, and the start menu works fine. Network printers connected, Office installed, no problems. This will satisfy most users I think. Finally.

VPN Service terminating on a SonicWALL

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish here- your SonicWall IS a VPN endpoint, for tunnels; SSL; IPsec client VPNs. Why would you need a VPN service?

    Dell Presision T5500 workstation

Yes- should work very well. Maybe pick up a Raid card and a couple SAS drives to really make it run.

    office365 rejecting emails- blacklist1

Bizarre- gotta love O365... the cloud answer to our dreams! LOL. Yes- just found out they all started going through at all sites today. Wow. Of course, no response from MS, and we get 50 phone calls and emails that "there's something wrong with the server!!". No explanations.

    office365 rejecting emails- blacklist1

Also checked all of my client's IPs and domains against Blacklists, none of them are listed anywhere.

    office365 rejecting emails- blacklist1

Anybody seeing these today? All of a sudden this afternoon several different clients (all running Exchange in house) seeing some random rejections from Outlook.com hosted recipients. All Exchange servers on static IPs, PTR records in place, etc. All recipients rejecting are apparently using...

Windows 8.1 vs 8.1 Pro, Dell Venue 11 Pro

What app allows RDP on a non-Pro version? I looked quickly and they all just appear to be RDP apps, not client apps. And the Windows matrix still shows only Pro & Ent having client capabilities. Maybe I'm missing something here. This is our game stopper- we have to be able to RDP into the...

Well, again stated- we agree to disagree.

    2012 Essentials rant

Well, then we agree to disagree. In my experience out in the marketplace of SMB, amongst end users of all levels of experience and in all sorts of business scenarios, from engineering firms to architects to medical offices to general business sales offices, I have met one single person who said...

    2012 Essentials rant

No sh*t Shrelock. I did read- did you? Multiple comments about multiple things. Seperate sentences. You can try to dissect my opinions anyway you wish, and be a martyr to the cause, but the fact remains it is not an efficient layout. And, no- the desktop is not the same as it has been in...

    2012 Essentials rant

Yes, even though. And, as has been pointed out millions of times, then rebuted by the fanboys, no- the desktop is NOT the same. It is a stripped desktop. Cascading menus are logical, compact, and sensible. The tiled interface of the Apps screen is scattered, unorganized, and a mess. If you...

    2012 Essentials rant

Assuming a lot there aren't you? Did I ever say it created a "barrier"? No. I said I didn't like it. Why WOULD I like a pseudo touchscreen interface on a server? It brings nothing to the party. Zero. Yes- I am capable of figuring it out. Just like I was capable of using NT; 2000; 2003...
