    bridge question

So you got yourself an Access point and a router? Hate to say it, but you can't use the routing features of your router, you might have been better off with a switch. The setup should go something like this. Connect the AP to normal switched ethernet lan port on router (not wan), from there...

    Multi server management tools?

I don't know about NT4, but I manage 8 2k servers and 2 2k3 and I just use a customized MMC window premapped to computer management for each system, that way I can see Event Viewer and HDD space easily. I like this solution because it's free and part of windows.

verizondsl getting worse and worse speeds

Alright, I used to be a tier 2 tech for a very large DSL ISP a few years ago and this sounds very familiar. From what you described it sounds like you are either getting a lot of noise on your line (not the audible type) or there is a packet loss issue. If you can contact the ISP and get a...

OMG, I lost it... I lost it all... no... HELP

Well it's not really a bug it's just how windows permissions work on a folder with security settings. You said the folder was moved to the my pictures folder I do believe (too lazy to scroll through the post again). That folder for some reason has different permissions than the original folder...

My view on the O/S or Which catagory do you fall into

Ok so I'm incredibly poor and most of my systems are hand-me-downs when I build newer systems for people. 1. "Game rig" - AMD 2000+/1g ram/ 360gb hd/2 dvd burners, sadly I do not have time to game anymore so this machine has become mainly a burning rig. 2. workstation 1 - p4 celly @...

    Picking router/switch & modem setup

For dsl modem I would definetely go with an Alcatel Speed touch series. They are probably some of the best dsl modems ever made. I agree is you have the budget go gigabit (even if there is only a few machines running at that level). I would suggest either a linksys or d-link stand alone...

I guess u could call this a prob

did you by chance play with your local group plicy to hide the local area connections? I have this set up in my domain so other users can't mess with the settings. Just a thought. to check, run gpedit.msc, user config, admin templates, network and check out the options

Submerged SBC - The project begins!

I would say go for the linux/firewall solution, much more [H]ardcore if you ask me. You can even throw a 1gb cf disk in there (I've seen them as low as $65-$70) and you can use it as dns/dhcp/firewall machine for your network. Very sweet project though, been wanting to do a submerged pc myself...

    services.msc deleted

You can always save a new services.msc, all that services.msc is, is an mmc snap in (microsoft management console). To create a new services.msc, go to start, run, type mmc, in the window that comes up go to console menu, select add/remove snap in, click the add button on the window that comes...
