Isn't that was Zoom Player Pro and FFDshow do? Take a look at some HTPC stuff, and you'll see that upscaling has been on PC's long before it was on set top players.

I just upgraded from a 24" Dell 2405 to a Westinghouse 42" monitor. All I have to say is wow. The Westinghouse has HDMI as well as DVI imput that allows up to 1080p (1920x1080). No dead pixels, no banding issues, only one lockup that was easily fixed, and overall just a good monitor for all...

I've got problems with tyrian 2000. It will install and run, but when it gets to the actual stage to play the game comes to a crawl. I'm not sure whats causing it, but it works fine on my old system so meh.
