That single core performance is very good, and overall incredible! Based on your handle, I assume you are running "Below Ambient" for those scores , how many watts are you pulling?
15th gen and beyond is going to get very interesting.. and as...
I had a 550 Watt Cooler Master in use for > 15 years on numerous builds.. It was even running without good airflow so the fan would run elevated for over a year (on 24x7).. still worked fine... but I never run my PSUs above 1/2 capacity.
Gave it away to a friend and still in use for like 18...
I have an EVGA 650 G2 PSU (for about 5 years)..

but it came with 2 / 4 pin CPU cables (not the 4+4 CPU connectors that join for a single 8 pin connector).. My recently acquired 12700K / Z690...
I used to chase the latest and greatest for FPS, but no longer do as I don't really game much anymore.. I moreso chase value from buying / selling used...
I picked up a TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4 and a 12700K combo off of Marketplace for $225, and it is quite an upgrade from my 9900K / Z390...
I've been holding out for an upgrade as my 9900K / Z390 is still serving my non gaming needs quite well.. With the proliferation of AI and various other reasons to "keep up", I am looking forward to how Arrow Lake is going to pan out.. It would be nice to have a single thread to follow...
I bought my daughter an M Macbook Air this past week, I am very impressed by it too.. I might buy my own and dump my windows laptop..
One thing of concern around the interwebs is how much swap usage one may encounter.. especially for 8/256... but at the same time, I saw this thread and this...
Honestly, after buying our first Apple M MacBook I am very impressed.
I am following developments in the ARM / RISC space for the desktop / laptop market on the windows platform.. I honestly believe that needs a separate discussion thread..
My daughter just received an iPad Air / 5th generation (new) as a gift from a friend that wants her to do the graphic art for a book she is writing...
I am quite impressed with it.. also impressed she got it for free and that someone saw her talent enough to set her up. Something she can add to...
With this refresh, I am kind of wondering if they addressed the lag concern with 12th and 13th gen ?
"Intel 12th and 13th Gen Intel Core processors (and likely also 14th Gen) have higher latency than 10th or 11th Gen Intel Core processors. This is a problem in the architecture which moved the...
Paid $120 for my 6600XT used (no mining) a couple of months ago, sold my old 960XT 4GB for $40.. same as what I paid for it used in 2018 or so.. no complaints at all.
There have been huge advancements in CPU and GPU capability, along with overall inflation in everything else..
I buy / trade...

PCIE 5 is starting to get legs...
My 24 year old desk enclosing my 15 year old open air case..
No cable management, Definitely not sexy.. but cool and quiet, ultimately out of sight / out of mind.. The case is extremely stable. For USB 3+, I have a hub on my desk for that.
My 100% oak large (and very heavy) Corner desk from...
Yeah... it really depends on how power hungry the new 14X intel chips will be for me.. might have to wait longer or consider AMD... AMD has had various Bios issues over the years for certain chips / chipsets that have been somewhat of a deterrent.
NVME drives are getting dirt cheap.
Just bought a 980 Pro for my 9900K rig (retiring 2 1 TB drives in Raid 0 that have 70k hours on them)... so yeah limited to PCI 3.0 for now.. Will probably upgrade with a 14th gen Intel later this year or early next if the reviews are compelling.. but no...
