What kind of motherboard do you have? Are you plugging the headphones into the rear audio jack, or into a dedicated motherboard header for front audio ports? This actually sound like the jack may not be engaging (or does not have) a built in amp for headphones. Haven't encountered this in Linux...

In any case, the last version of ATI's fglrx driver that supported the 9200 was from two-and-a-half years ago. That's from the suckage era for ATI Linux support.

I was afraid you might say that. You should probably check very carefully to make sure whatever board/chipset you have is supported by WinServ2008.

My onboard nVidia RAID experiences have never been very good. Important question to ask though, and I should have thought sooner, would be, what OS do you plan on using?
So you're going to use the mobo's onboard raid? I have had better experiences with AMD's newer RAID than nVidia's. The Gigabyte board Adidas4275 lists looks nice. For a slightly less pricey board I'd look at:
