Its most likely your PSU. 1200 gold is cutting it close with more then 2. Assuming each card can draw up to 375 watt at full load. There is a reason all the good +1200 watt platinum PSU are out of stock or over priced....

I would get a Q6600, it will give your system another 2 years of decent performance for gaming and other tasks. I am still using an Q6600 oced to 3.3ghz, I have yet to find a reason to switch. None of the games out currently really push my CPU that much. I am patiently waiting for an 8 core CPU...

Maps and dumbed down models are due to the dual development process from the xbox360. I dont worry about that stuff though because user made maps and mods should fill in the void.
