I have a 5 year old system and had no issues doing a clean install from DVD/BluRay.

Take a look at this link and see if something in there is helpful. Windows 10 Tutorials I put 10 on two computers and I think everything looked washed out, too light or too dark.

The HP looks good. I customized it for an 500gb SSD and went to 16gb ram. Kept everything else the same, looks good for the wife. Perfect!
