Watercooling - not impressed so far!

There is a performance hit with the coolant you are using compared to water. Not sure how much. There might be some other problems with pc ice. http://reviews.pcapex.com/cooling/primochill_pc_ice_coolant.php http://www.forumapex.com/extreme_cooling/65857-primochill_ice_problem.html

    Not going to happen.

How low is too low flow?

Huh? My true microchannel block (lytron cp-20) never had problems with clogging. I didn't even use any sort of filter.

Slipping 3/8" tubing over 1/2" fittings

Yeah, it is safe. I have 3/8" ID Tygon r-3603 stretched over 1/2" OD barbs and also 1/2" ID stretched over 5/8" OD barbs. No need to heat the tubing up, I just forced it on there. Been running without hose clamps this way for over 3 years.

Temporarily cutting off coolant flow in a pipe...

http://www.mcmaster.com has several flow-control tube clamps in plastic or metal on page 152 of their catalog. I made my own out of scrap materials I already had laying around. I used some 1/4" aluminum rod and some 8-32 nylon screws to make mine. You can see it in lower left.

    I have too much money?

You can't use a peltier with the tdx because it does not have enough cooling area to cover the whole hot side.
