    Load balancer/wan failover

It will be L2 for backhaul purpose. There will be no way I can route at this point in the network. My sector APs are set as routers with different public IPs on the wan vs lan side. I'm gonna dig some info on LACP

    Load balancer/wan failover

I've recently replaced one of my backhauls (2 sets of 2 nanobridge m5 25dbi units) and have a direct PTP to my main site now (2x 30dbi RocketDishes). Since the old link is still sturdy for up to 30megs, and the new link is hitting the mid 90s; I'd like to be able to plug both into a device...

Who, besides Cisco, for enterprise access switches?

HP's lifetime guarantee is amazing! Some people buy old HP switches off ebay, try and find an issue with it, and send it in to HP for a new switch. Since they don't make some models anymore, they send their newer, and better, switches out as a replacement. Maybe that's why they have jacked...

    Managed ATT Router

By link IP do you mean Serial IP (ATTs IP for the WAN and LAN, 12.x.y.z)? I have a total of 11 gateways but 9 of them are routed on my end of things. I only have traffic (at the router) from a /27 and a /24. Behind those 2 subnets some of my old APs are in router mode with their WAN and LAN IPs...

    Managed ATT Router

I'm pretty sure we are leasing the router and the Ciena box is NOT ours. What all is involved in that Cisco router? Just static routes? Something ATT could tell me without getting fussy? You guys have been a lot of help!

    Managed ATT Router

No, it is being leased as is the router in this 'managed' package. $2,000 a month. I understand a lot more now that you have went into some detail. My only thing is the fiber never seems to glitch. Is it still worth keeping the managed service in the long run?

    Managed ATT Router

thanks bds1904 Lots of info. They did say I could back out of the managed service and that I would have to supply my own equipment and they would not support troubleshooting. Do you think that means they would still want the ciena on my premises as an in-between to their network? If my...

    Managed ATT Router

It is a business line. Dark fiber is fixing to be brought directly to our main head end (rather than current PTP hops). The reason I ask is when the Eelectric company runs dark fiber ... I'm looking to try and pay as little as possible to ATT. I have no idea how fiber transports or how to get...

    Managed ATT Router

I currently have a 'managed' ATT Router as ATT provides a fiber link to our head end. I'm trying to alleviate this expensive 'managed' service which simply means that ATT can check if our circuit is down, which it rarely is. I'm not sure what to say/ask for being able to simply hook up a...

    Managed Router vs unmanaged

I currently have a 2 30dbi rocketdish m5s setup to deliver a main backhaul of 70mbit atm which is fantastic. The other has been cut off at town B since the link is renewed and no failover is manageable. Air Fiber is not in the question at the moment due to weight distribution on main tower. I...

    Managed Router vs unmanaged

You are correct. It is in our contract and breaking the contract is a killer. As far as our backhauls, 50mb for a dense foliage southern small down is pretty good for a 12 mile link. We do have another link going 7 miles (smaller dish) pushing nearly 40. So technically we get almost all of...

    Managed Router vs unmanaged

I run a small town ISP (~200 users) and our closest fiber tap is nearly 16 miles away. We have backhaul links setup with decent signal but obviously there is still a loss on some speed as it goes from one area to another; Basically we pay for a 100mb connection but can only utilize ~40mb by the...

recommended routers that would block torrents

http://www.badips.com is a new haven for hackers worldwide. Their is also an easy to use API. Not a direct answer but definately worth a check. If you have linux machine you can sync the firewall setting to read from the site realtively easily. A nice built in solution if you consider the...

    dual source feed backhaul

I've been dealing with a midpoint hop across 2 towns to reach my destination town and now that possibilities have expanded I was able to directly feed internet a few towns away without the need for a midpoint. My problem is that I have about 50megs pumping through the direct connection and 30...

    Web Content monitor

netequalizer was a dream a few years ago and monitored many things. With new technology it (looking back) lacked features people like today and of course the cost is not for shallow pockets. I second untangle. I've yet to deploy this but smoothwall has free and paid versions, just need 2 nics...
