This CPU fan....

Its super quiet and does an great job of cooling. The quality is exellent. Its mounting is very solid. The Big Typhoon is a pain to install but it does cool well and is also quiet. Make sure you have enough...
Man just google "NFORCE 4 problems". I have one ASUS Nforce 4 AMD64 system in my house. The other 4 systems are using Intel motherboards with Intel CPU's...845, 865, 875 and one 915. My AMD system has more problems than all of them. The mobo with the 875 chipset is my server....and its been...
I think it depends on the game. When the games were all DX7/DX8 like say the UT2003/4 engine they were very CPU limited, because alot of the DX8 features were hard to code, and so graphics were being pushed alot by the CPU or by just adding more pixels....and not fancy shaders and bump mapping...
why not spend $360 more

Why not $460 more.....or heck get a SLI Rig with dual 7800GT's. The point is that he does NOT want to spend anymore than he needs to.
Most people have said it, its NOT the CPU so much as it is the chipset. VIA is the mother of all problems.
AMD use to make their own chipsets, why they quit I will never know.
The INTEL stability that is/was perceived by most came from its solid chipsets, higher quality cpu/chipset fabs...
Through all of this BS there is some good advice.
I have a 3.4ghz P4, 1gig of DDR-400, and a 6800 GT, I run at 1600x1200 my settings are high, high, high, high, low, off, off, off, low, 100%. I get an average of 70fps boosting to 100 (which is max for BF2) to 45-50 when all is crazy.
So I...
Of the NYT readers.....what percent will give a rats @ss about the "enthusiast CPU market" a market that makes up probably less than 1% of all CPU's sold.
The NYT is a leftist anti-american rag....waste of paper.
That said if I were to read an article about Intel in a newspaper I would...
Buddy has a 2.4C on a 875 mobo. He wants to get a new CPU (and a 6800GT) before Battle Field 2 comes out in March.
He wants to get a 3.2C or a 3.4E. He will never overclock. So considering all of things what would you suggest?
Thanks
Its got limitations, like 400FS single channel DDR, and AGP 4X. I know the new one is moving to dual channel DDR at 533..........but lets talk about 800FSB and PCIE. The CPU is great at a whopping 27watts for the 2.1ghz version.
Well they added more pipes to get it to go faster (past 3.4ghz), and doubled the cache to help the "to many pipes problem". All this doubled the amount of transistors....so yes they shrunk the die...but filled it backup and then some. The presscott is disaster.
I had a 3.4E for two weeks...
I would have to agree with everyone else. From what I have read and seen, clock for clock the northwood is faster than a presscott. The cache is only there to help the slow down problem....somewhat.
That said I would think that a 2.8C is equal to a 2.9E or since they dont make a 2.9E a...
Ok a update. I had the 3.4E since 10/21. It worked well but is was very hot, 44C idle and 56-61C under load, even peaked once at 64C.
I have a Zalman 7000 ALCU with AS5 grease. I have a Antec SLK3700-BQE case with two 120mm fans, very quiet rig with the mobo slowing down the fans when...
