Hello all,
Specs for my system are in my sig. It's a 4 year old computer, i5 2500k, 8gb ram, and a radeon hd 6950 video card. Obviously the video card is the biggest bottleneck, at the same time I obviously don't want to buy something crazy because it would be pointless. Also I'm not in a...
Hey guys,
Long story short, my parents have a new-ish premade lenovo. It didnt come with DVI, just one onboard VGA, which is annoying. Unfortunately, the PSU is only 270 watts so I'm not sure if it can even take a video card really. Is there something that's ultra low power that will run on...
For some background, I've been attempting to troubleshoot via TightVNC. The windows error log has no information other than
"Event ID 41: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power...
Yeah I was looking into this. It's still fast, but I think my performance issues are due to things like ground clutter and whatnot. IIRC that's a CPU issue.
Thanks to everyone for the info, much appreciated!
Edit: Also I'm seeing a lot of AMD recommendations in this thread. I thought...
Specs are in my sig.
I would be replacing it with a "mid range" nvidia card. Something around the 200-250 range.
Primarily I play WoW, Skyrim, Crysis 2. Modern games are still playable on my system.
Hey guys,
I work retail and I have a customer who purchased a monitor (1920x1080). Its an HP Pavillion 23xi. He's trying to display an ipad mini and it always truncates the screen with black bars on either side. This wouldn't be a problem if custom scaling was enabled, but in full HD, it's...
Hey guys. I have a 2gb Radeon 6950 that I'd like to attempt flashing to 6970/overclocking. The brand is HIS.
Although there is definitely not guarantee that it will work, the card may, in fact, meet the criteria. Is there any way to attempt this and have it be reversible, should the mod...
Looks like all that happened was my computer went into sleep mode. It's just shutting down for some reason. I think it's my video card drivers as I recently updated to the 12.10.
I don't think it's this but I'll check.
PSU is a Corsair TX650w. Ram is only a year old. Going to check the event viewer. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Hey guys,
Something strange is happening with my comp. It seems that at night, rather than go into standby, my computer will just shut off. I'll come back to it in the morning and it's as if we lost power...but we didn't.
It never turns off when I'm using it. I've never actually seen it...
Here's the story...
My friend bought a new PSU. His old mobo has an atx12v connector but the PSU only has the 8pin connector (looks like its set up as 2x 4). What happens if you just plug in half of it. Is this safe/will it work?
Edit: Just plugged half of the 8pin connector (4+4) into...
So I'm not understanding why nVidia cards can have driver level AO for games like skyrim (as well as framerate increases) but ATI cannot. It's not like the cards arent capable of it.
