SENTRY: Console-sized gaming PC case project

SaperPL if you're looking for suggestions for improvements you can make on the Sentry, I've got one for you. Right now, there are 2 rectangular gaps (under the riser slot) between the CPU side and GPU side. It would be nice to have something that could restrict airflow between the 2 sides to...

I wouldn't even bother with filters if I have to take the case apart. At that point I would just leave them off and use canned air to clean the parts.

A note on using the mag filters: My sentry is in the vertical orientation. I have filters covering all the vents. While playing a game my CPU went up to ~75C. I took the filter covering the CPU vent off and the CPU temps went down to ~53C. I'm probably just going to leave that one off from now on.

Thanks for the info! If Vega doesn't perform well, then I'm sold on the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition GAMING (or most likely EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 GAMING). Also, in the instructions for the NH-l9i they said if you have problems with heat, try not using the low noise adapter...

How's the noise/temps with that card under normal gaming load?

An open air cooler with the GPU compartment sealed did the trick. Good to know. How is the noise? I assume it's quieter than a blower card and hopefully performs slightly better given the temp headroom. Also, anyone else can chime in here, what is the max LxWxH GPU I can fit in there. I'm...

Nah, it's ok. I broke it so it's not their fault. Besides, if I end up needing more ports, I could opt for a hub. If I'm feeling extra fancy, I could solder on a new header. I don't use a lot of peripherals anyway.

I finished my build minus the GPU. Waiting for Vega before I decide. Check it out: http://imgur.com/gallery/cRCO3 Oh, one thing to note. Be gentle with the USB 3.0 header on the motherboard. I broke a pin and now my front left USB port doesn't work :'( Also, Gr8Scott, I took pictures of the...

I went with the ASRock X370 ITX. I chose this RAM (G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8GB) TridentZ Series DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz for Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory F4-3200C16D-16GTZ). I didn't remember to check the QVL list for compatibility. It ended up not being on the list, but worked out anyway. I set...

As promised, I'm back with a picture. I don't have all the parts yet so it's not put together. I was Order #25 so first shipment, but to the US. It took 8 weeks and 5 days to arrive. My Sentry was #23. Edit: ZombiPL, SaperPL my packaging was near flawless. The outer box was almost punctured...

See, I was going to just keep it, but the guys at Microcenter told me to buy an open box GPU and then return it once I was done testing. I will probably keep it because of the benefit of having a card dedicated for troubleshooting.

SENTRY: Console-sized gaming PC case project

I was one of the 10 or so cases shipped to the US that hadn't received the case nor had any updates on shipping status. It's been 2 months and 5 days, but finally this morning at 7am it arrived at my local post office and will be delivered today. Can't wait to get home and check it out! All my...
