Probably the silicon image drivers got corrupted when you uninstalled the nVidia drivers for the 7950. Try to reinstall them so the yellow "!" disappears.
It's no use for you to wait until Vista comes. The hardware you're getting is more than enough to handle it, if you're worried about the OS being "native" dont worry, just backup all your stuff and do a fresh install whenever you want. Upgrading the OS isn't the only way.

I have that card (green one) and a CM 450W Real power, with no issues at all, good card, all manufacturers have problems now and then with their products, I think is just bad luck.
