  1. Jandor replied to the thread Any idea when the 10th gen mainstream will be on the market?.

Clearly Ryzen 3600 (6 core better IPC) or even 2700 (8 core) for gaming. There are some sales for the 2700 at 150$ which is a silly price for that CPU (you even get a good enough cooler with it if you don't OC). The interesting part is that new...

  2. Jandor replied to the thread Intel 10nm/7nm CPU/GPU Rumor Thread : Cannonlake, Icelake, Tigerlake, Sapphire Rapids, etc..

Until 10nm Intel won't make improvements, especially since they patch their optimized unsecured cache system. Some good optimizations are coming with 10nm but can't say when on desktop if ever, and the big IPC jump will come with the new...

  3. Jandor replied to the thread How do you cool your 3900x?.

And use Artic MX4 or MX2 paste. They won't fail with time. They stay sticky oily and stable and don't get dry ever.

  4. Jandor replied to the thread Intel reportedly reserved $ 3 billion in 2019 to competitively block AMD.

I agree. If Intel is close to AMD in performance for an acceptable higher price, it is not worth the fuss to test new hardware and cope with incompatibilities. Also AMD has not yet the powerfull services of maintenance and support that Intel has....

  5. Jandor replied to the thread Intel reportedly reserved $ 3 billion in 2019 to competitively block AMD.

I don't think this is anti-competitive. Intel used to keep huge margins on their sales on the contrary of AMD. And still now. So Intel is just lowering his margins. They don't lose money and have made little investment iin the technology and...

  6. Jandor replied to the thread AMD upgrade suggestions from an RX 570?.

You still can find new Vega 56 cards for around 250 euros and 64 for 64 euros, but they will eed a bigger PSU by around 150W if the one installed is limited, espciaally for Vega 64. We're talking gaming, because in case of working and compute,...

  7. Jandor replied to the thread How do you cool your 3900x?.

Mind that on hard works like Prime tests, the 3900X may reach 175W TDP, while 2700X was already reaching 160W. Without overclocking of course. This means you have to pick up a huge cooler, and not necessarily a water cooling solution.

  8. Jandor replied to the thread Picard Will Lead "Radically Altered" Life in New Star Trek Series.

Mind that I separated both opinions in my post, but usually find both opinions in the same TV show. Actually Trump is the best anti-democrat of today, not really republican in all the ways it used to be. The democrats of today, meaning those in...

  9. Jandor replied to the thread Picard Will Lead "Radically Altered" Life in New Star Trek Series.

I'm not talking about political opinion, but political propaganda. It's like the opposite of a free opinion, you could discuss. It is like the official propaganda in Soviet Union. There is no discussion and even discussing it becomes suspicious....

  10. Jandor replied to the thread US Navy just patented a very compact fusion reactor..

Not for free, of course, but very inexpensive and like Moore's Law will be more and more inexpensive with better tech, with time.

  11. Jandor replied to the thread US Navy just patented a very compact fusion reactor..

Okay, you're right to some extent, but only considering this would be a reactor making huge energy, but if there is a fusion reactor made for a car, it means it will be such a tiny reaction that it will be easy to contain. But there is a problem...

  12. Jandor replied to the thread Picard Will Lead "Radically Altered" Life in New Star Trek Series.

On the contrary, everybody knows Picard series TNG were very much depicting a kind of socialist civilization very much military ruled, very much overly controlling everything, but had few freedom limitations and was quite against arbitrary rules....

  13. Jandor replied to the thread Picard Will Lead "Radically Altered" Life in New Star Trek Series.

But this is new. It's been 10 maybe 15 years that this is like becoming the main purpose on Cinema and TV. If you look at, for instance, Super Girl, this is 100% political series. They don't miss one shot for the democrates at the very left and...

  14. Jandor replied to the thread Picard Will Lead "Radically Altered" Life in New Star Trek Series.

Yeah, I'm sick of it. 99% of the movies produced in US, UK and France are about political agendas for the gays, the racial minorities, global warming, limited politically correct language to authorized words, mostly simplified language trying not...

  15. Jandor replied to the thread Another example of not owning Adobe software you paid for..

Paid software is okay (in fact Bricscad BIM is quite expensive). The problem is with the software company like Adobe or Autodesk saying they own the product and not you. Mind that Autodesk even says in its announcement that they may use your...

  16. Jandor replied to the thread Nvidia / Jensen trying to kill off the AMD FreeSync Branding? The F-ing #%$@ Suckers!.

The big problem with all this is that you don't really know what you're buying and what will work on what, and how it will work. I suppose this is what Nvidia wants, but AMD should react to that. Isn't a mandatory advertising for G-Sync in...

  17. Jandor replied to the thread Nvidia Creates New Studio To Remaster Classic Games With Raytracing.

Depends on what you call old. Frankly older games are mostly good because they have simple graphics, are ultra-optimized and people see them that way. I would rather Nvidia not to touch them and let them the way they are. I would be happy those...

  19. Jandor replied to the thread Another example of not owning Adobe software you paid for..

If you want to attack a software company for it's position and the fact that they have lacking support for their older products and don't sell them anymore, but you have to pay a monthly fee, it is Autodesk ! They rely on protected DWG files, on...

  20. Jandor replied to the thread Rumor : AMD Bringing Ray Tracing Support to Navi in December.

Pascal support for RTX is relying on low speed integer functions on Pascal that are faster even on Turing GTX 1660 series (compared to GTX 1060 practically equal card), because they are still faster tan FP functions. On the contrary, Vega and...
