The drive is a Maxtor 250gb 8mb cache. I bought one last week, and it clicked and died on me this morning. I've never owned a Maxtor that had a normal life span. I'd wait for a deal to drop on the WD caviars.
Checked the "local store availability" on the Compusa site and they all were "out of stock".
I went to the closest store and they had 8 drives for sale, and I picked up one. Go figure.

I know harddrives pull off the 12 rail to spin their motors... maybe yours is low enough?
Im not too worried about the temps, but im just mystified why the cpu temp would go up with the new ram installed. Could the DIMM be heating up the pcb next to the cpu sensor? It was my understanding that DIMMS dont get that hot, as least at stock speeds.
I have the ZM80C-HP installed on my 9800 pro and its got a pretty low clearance on the top side, about 3/4 cm. the bottom side (the side with the core protruding) has about a 1.25 cm clearance. Im not sure how high your tv tuner chip is though.
