9 months of winter might have some of you twiddling thumbs too. When it's -30C for weeks at a time you tend to spend a bit of time on the internet in between hangovers.

Any ideas to speed up my laptop?

Keep it defragged. Set your video card settings to PERFORMANCE. Delete some of the proprietary crap off your task bar. Streamline your TSR programs to onlyneed what is required. Use MSCONFIG to turn off the useless ones like updaters etc. Uninstall any useless toolbars.

RIAA: U.S. Copyright Law 'Isn't Working'

How do you get paid when you don't get noticed? If you throw the music online for free and don't ever rely on that as any source of income, consider if the music is good...word of mouth spreads...the song gains popularity...the local garage band that released the material sells out local venues...

Sure...send them a message...send them all your old scratched CD's and demand your money back for the liscence you will no longer be needing to listen to those songs. Also Sue them for content played on open airwaves that you did not purchase a liscecnce to listen to and that you don't like. XM...

    Freezing issues...

Maybe try a different app for your overclocking. Like the NVIDIA's own utility or NTUNE. perhaps it is not an issue where you think but rather might be a refresh rate lockup or something to that effect.

RIAA: U.S. Copyright Law 'Isn't Working'

I think it should be like games...after XX amount of years it becomes like vaporware...free. But you never really buy music. You buy a liscence to merely listen to it. If you read the disclaimer they still own all the rights to it and you can't even load it on your ipod or anything without their...

They have no testuicular fortitude or they wouldn't sue the people that made them.

    Freezing issues...

I seen this before...if you are running the IDE drives on a power connector shared by your video card or a DVD player on a connector shared with the video card you will have frequent lockups. Have you tried your tests with the BIOS running on fail safe settings versus maximum optimized settings?

RIAA: U.S. Copyright Law 'Isn't Working'

Perhaps it is the consumers who should sue the RIAA for all the crap they have peddled on us over the years. How many people here bought a CD only to find 1 or 2 good songs out of 15? Yet the RIAA said it was a critically acclaimed album etc. Why don't they cry to Goldman Sachs for their...
