FX 4100 system to have its guts replaced, looking to finally take the upgrade plunge

Avoid the 11th gen, it's a dumpster fire. You have fewer cores due to Intel backporting a smaller architecture node to a larger node, you also have higher power consumption and less performance. If you do go with Intel, stick to the 10th or 12th gen, unless you find a deal on some used gear in...

Intel Building New 7nm Chip.... to mine Bitcoin

This was true back in 2012-2013 when ASICs hadn't taken off yet and the difficulty was low. If you try to mine Bitcoin with a GPU now, you'd just be wasting money. If you were on a mining pool, you'd maybe see a couple fractions of a couple cents a month at best. Bitcoin and other SHA256 clones...

Looking for free software for gpu benchmark test for windows xp.

Yeah, you aren't going to get any modern version of a web browser on XP, both Google and Mozilla dropped support for it 5+ years ago. The only choices are to run the last supported versions of those browsers, or one of the few community forks of Firefox that still do. But even if you run one of...

Looking for free software for gpu benchmark test for windows xp.

That just goes back to using Windows XP for things it was never designed to do. Installing Windows XP on an i9-12900k is just as silly as trying to install Windows 10 on a Pentium 3 and expecting there to be proper support for everything. Even if hardware developers wanted to support modern...

Looking for free software for gpu benchmark test for windows xp.

Complete nonsense. You were probably trying to use Windows XP for things it was never designed to do. It'd be like saying Windows 10 isn't pretty and hardly runs anything because realmode DOS programs don't run on it. Windows XP had a 13 year lifespan, and was backwards compatible with the...

3DMark 06 and older are 32 bit, you can even see screenshots in the PDF where they use the Windows XP Luna style windows.

    OptiPlex 390 Diagnostic Errors

That era of dell was always the power supplies or the RAM. The PSU would start acting flaky and cause the machines to act weird. The RAM was another common failure, thanks to Dell using bottom of the barrel garbage sticks.

    OptiPlex 390 Diagnostic Errors

For intruder switch, disable intrusion detection in BIOS. For the other two errors, really bad memory can cause that. You can try pulling the memory sticks and cleaning the pins and reinstalling them. It's a common issue on garbage tier memory Dell uses.

So, How Does Flashing a GPU BIOS Actually 'Brick' the Card?

In many cases the clip flashing method won't work because the motherboard drags down the SPI bus and the programmer can't communicate with the flash chip. I've had to remove more SPI ROM chips than not because of that problem. Another problem exists on more recent UEFI BIOS ROMs where the data...

    3dfx Voodoo5 6000 Clone

The V4 4500 is what the V3 should have been. It makes a good retro card for games in that time frame, since its faster than the V3 and offers 32 bit color vs 16 bit dithered color and 2048x2048 textures instead of 256x256. Problem is that these days it's hideously expensive and hard to find...

    3dfx Voodoo5 6000 Clone

Yeah, no idea either. I just remember going there to get a video card and was blown away when I saw the sticker for $699.99. I got a Geforce 2 instead. I later got my Voodoo5 5500 from a friend in highschool for $60 in 2002/2003. You talking about the Athlon MP? That wasn't released until a...

    3dfx Voodoo5 6000 Clone

3dfx MSRP was $299, but brick and mortar retailers like CompUSA were selling it for $699.99. I remember walking into a CompUSA in Austin when they launched and they were going for that much. VSA-100 was obsolete and outclassed at launch. The single chip V4 4500 fared much worse, being...

    3dfx Voodoo5 6000 Clone

That wouldn't have saved them, we all know how poorly the Dreamcast did compared to the PS2, even though it had a two year head start. Dreamcast sold short of 10 million and the PS2 did over 15x that number. What would have kept them going longer is if they didn't axe their 3rd party AIB...

    Sealed Hercules 3D Prophet 4500

I still have mine floating around here somewhere. They were decent cards... when they worked. Drivers for them were abysmal and really only worked on Windows 98SE/ME. There are drivers for 2000/XP, but I've never been able to get them to work reliably.
