You're free to spend several thousand dollars on FPGA hardware, PCB design, VHDL and reverse engineering of the Rage Fury Pro GPU to make your own MAXX card. You seem to think that everyone is made of money. It's not considered collecting if...

  2. GiGaBiTe replied to the thread Power Supply shuts off power to Computer randomly? Help.

Your full computer specs would help in diagnosing the issue. From the limited information you provide, all I can think of is that there is a bad connection in the power socket to the power cord or something is overloading the power supply and...

  3. GiGaBiTe replied to the thread Engineering Sample Gold Top Intel Pentium Pro.

I still have two 200 MHz 256k Pentium Pros from a server I had decades ago. It blew up from a lightning strike, but the CPUs, RAM and HDDs came out unscathed.

  4. GiGaBiTe replied to the thread Missing a corner pin on my Ryzen 7 2700x, will it still work?.

I saw that one and ruled it out because the four keys aren't present near the center of the CPU and the corners don't match up. Multiplying the two sides (41x43 pins) gives 1763 pins, and even subtracting the missing ones, it's far away from the...

I had a suspicion that wasn't the right diagram, but it was the only one I could find that said it was AM4 and looked really close. I did a bit more looking and yeah AM4 has 1331 pins so obviously not correct.

  8. GiGaBiTe replied to the thread Missing a corner pin on my Ryzen 7 2700x, will it still work?.

It's data line 33, which is named MB_DATA[32]. Remember the numbers are shifted over one place so 0 is 1, 1 is 2 .... 32 is 33, etc. because the CPU has 64 data lines, just numbered 0-63. It's a bit confusing. This is the image I found, but I'm...

  9. GiGaBiTe replied to the thread nVidia GeForce FX 5800 Ultra.

Pencil erasers are designed to be abrasive, it's how they function. When you erase pencil or pen marks from paper, it scuffs the paper, which is the same thing it does to copper contacts. If you erase too much from the same spot on paper, it...

According to an AM4 pin mapping I could find, the broken pin on your CPU is assigned to MB_DATA[32], or the 33rd line of the data bus. It looks like MB_DATA is the data bus since there appears to be 64 lines (0-63). I suspect the CPU may not work.

All of those suggestions are abrasive and cause damage. Deoxit gold doesn't do any damage, it only removes the oxide layer and protects the underlying metal for about a year in open air. If unavailable, a rust inhibitor like Krud kutter work if...

Get a can of Deoxit Gold and spray it into the DIMM slots. Also spray some on the contacts on the DDR modules and insert/remove them a few times in each slot. I have similar problems with motherboards of that vintage, the contacts get oxidized...

To each his own. Any old hardware I get is always used. Buying something just to have it sit on a high shelf nobody can see or use is a waste and disservice to everyone who would otherwise want to use it. I have a general disdain for collectors...
