Well assuming this really is about certificate validation requests then the original article was off track.
Obviously it’s impossible for an outsider to know how some data leaving the device will end up being used, but coming up with a worst case scenario that misunderstands some things...
There was a response from Apple:
- it’s not sending hashes of apps, rather its developer certs being validated
- cert
- they are looking at changing the message content
- they are looking at adding a possibility to disable it...
I work in product management working with 8 development teams (4 teams for backend, 2 windows client, 1 linux client and 1 mac client). Mostly I can get by with 16 GB, but I have a lot of things going on at the same time and prefer not to keep closing / opening applications to free up memory...
I would not get that with 8GB even for my kids. Personally I can’t get by at work without 32.
But I assume going above 16 would require moving from 2 memory banks to 4, and that likely requires more engineering. Obviously they’ll be working on that. For Mac Pro’s they’ll need to go way higher...
Yeah, I don’t think it’s trolling to ask for that either.
I would still highlight that Apple is not planning on selling these processors to anyone. Apple has always marketed new releases by comparing them to what they sold before. For people here on the forum it seems strange that they compare...
I don’t think Apple cares at all for the ”spec game”.
I mean sure they are happy to charge you (an arm and a leg) for more RAM or a bigger SSD, but they play that game on their own terms.
If you look at phones, they don’t really talk about how much memory they have, but they definately get by...
I was discussing the preview chips performance with our lead mac developer the other day and he claimed that even with them - using rosetta the performance was really impressive (sometimes faster then native intel test devices).
I think something thats easy to miss here is that these devices...
Somebody called me up, had a long chat and asked me to send my CV to him. I told him I have not updated it in 7 years, but promised to send it during the weekend...
So I have a bit of a dilemma, I don't especially like what I had written up 7 years ago and I've done so many things since then...
You can just use tcp-wrappers to whitelist the IP's you want in regards to SSH. Personally I would not bother with moving it to another port, while it would reduce the amount of automated scans, it will still leave it open for attacks... As suggested, using public keys for authentication is also...
I earned pocket money as a kid installing msdos on computers... Since then I did a lot of things, helpdesk, IT (servers, SAN, virtualization, networking etc), security and now programming.
I learned during all of them, and still learn. Occasionally I also do things at home to learn. When I was...
