    Jack's Back

Jack Thompson is once again back in the news. Seems he wants in on the White House meeting regarding video games. Can't he just go back to his little hole where we could ignore him for the rest of eternity. https://www.pcgamesn.com/trump-meeting-games-industry-esa

Intel Didn't Tell Government About Meltdown/Spectre Because They Couldn't Help With Fix

My guess, certain areas of government (cia, nsa, etc) knew about the bug and have been abusing it, but if they hadn't, Intel letting them know about it would have probably led to the weaponizing of it and Intel probably would have been told don't fix it.

Serial Swatter Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter

Personally speaking, I couldn't be objective either. IMO, for this guy and others like him, we need to dig a very deep hole, throw them into it and then put a cover on top and then just forget about them. My only worry would be that it could lead to C.H.U.D

Uber Fined $8.9 Million for Hiring Drivers with Criminal Records

And I'm sure some crimes, for example shoplifting, just get ignored by a background check. But would you want to get into a car driven by someone who had a record of raping women, even if they just got out of jail after 5, 10, 15 or 20 years? I know quite a few woman that it wouldn't matter...

NYT: Denver Best Choice for Amazon’s Second Headquarters

I know Calgary Alberta Canada is also courting Amazon, so IMO the article is biased towards strictly American locations while Amazon isn't.

They're running the scam scam up here in Canada, usually targeting the more recently immigrated.

The New 'Mass Effect Trilogy' Trailer

If I didn't already own them and I didn't know much about the series, the ending to 3, etc etc. Yes, this trailer would have me wanting to buy them (or line up to watch the movie)

Microsoft Surface Preorders Sell Out In Under 24hrs

Steve, shouldn't this news article say Tuesday? I mean it's only 9am mountain time here, pretty sure I'm not in a time warp at the moment ;)

    Game Developers Abandoning Google+

I use G+, pretty much daily (maybe 2x per week for facebook), and frankly, not having games is not going to effect me in the least. Does it have a games channel, yes, have I visited it and played a game or 3 yes, has I been in there recently, nope, not for 4+ months. I don't go on there for...

    Google+ is A Ghost Town

You don't know how to use it then. You can send a direct message to anyone in your circles, just make a post and instead of including a circle, include your friends name. Only they and you can read it.

A Brief Timeline of Viruses from the Beginning of Networked Computing

I'm kinda surprised that the article didn't mention Chernobyl, one of the 1st viruses to be able to infect and corrupt the bios firmware of a computer, potentially turning an infected machine into a brick

Firefox - Where to backup bookmarks on Windows 7?

hell, just make a copy of the contents of the folder that has a name that looks similar to ifaku79z.default. When you do your reinstall and run firefox, it'll create a similar folder (but with a different name). Just overwrite the ocntents of that folder with the stuff you just copied. All...
