I'm looking for a power conditioner for my old house with what I suspect is pretty dirty power. All the units on Amazon (TrippLite, Opti-UPS) have complaints of humming noises, which doesn't surprise me considering they seem pretty lightweight and cheaply made.
Can anyone recommend a decent...
Haven't tried the 620 yet, that's a good idea. I did try both DVI ports. I'm wondering if it's somehow a problem specific to the HIS 6950--I found one other instance of someone having the same problem with that card and the ASRock Extreme 4 where he had several other (Nvidia) cards that would...
Specs of new PC are:
2500K
Asrock P67 Pro3
HIS Radeon 6950 2GB
2x4GB G.Skill Ripjaws
Antec True Power 650W
Assembling everything yields failure to post and a "d6" error code on the mobo, which indicates "no console output." The weird thing is I can put the HIS 6950 in my old machine...
My mother is looking for a new laptop, and since I'm totally clueless about laptops, I thought I'd get a recommendation here. Her budget is probably about <$900. Also, how does the useless bloatware compare these days on different models, from those at Best Buy to Dell/HP?
Are there any...
For $300 you get a great panel. Colors look nice, viewing angles are great and mine had no noticeable dead pixels. The stand is cheap but serviceable. If you don't need to hook anything other than your computer up to it, I would highly recommend this over the LG or BenQ that cost twice as much.
Thank you Jetski, that was the exact link I was thinking of. Regrettably I had remembered incorrectly and that fix is for washed-out blacks; I have exactly the opposite problem and everything is just getting too dark.
I actually just purchased the $300 Soyo (and actually really enjoy it), but I have a dual monitor setup and would like to continue to use the amazing FP2141 as my secondary. I seem to recall a page with relatively simple instructions on overvolting the tube and at any rate would like to see it...
I've searched but cannot find an old thread that linked to a site explaining how to fix darkening CRT's by replacing the caps to overvolt the tube. If I recall correctly the guy was even selling premade PCB's you could just plug into your monitor somehow. I have an aging FP2141SB that's sadly...
Does anyone know if there is a driver or any other way to get this to do 75 Hz vertical refresh? It's the same panel as the BenQ and LG that are capable of this; is the Soyo simply not?
Thinking about purchasing a NEC 20WMGX2 before they're gone forever. My only concern is that a I run a lot of games at traditional CRT resolutions (1024x768 chiefly) and I'm worried how these will look on the LCD. How does this widescreen LCD handle resolutions in different aspect ratios...
I'm running Home Premium Vista x64, using a Razer DeathAdder with the latest drivers and firmware installed, and no matter what I do I cannot get the side buttons to work in Counter-Strike: Source. I've tried using them as the default "Windows 4" and "Windows 5" mouse buttons as well as binding...
I'm running the following rig:
E6750
4GB RAM
GA-P35C-DS3R
eVGA 8800GTS 640MB
Vista x64 Home Ultimate
with the latest beta drivers from nVidia (163.11) I can adjust gamma/brightness/digital vibrance on the desktop and these work correctly, but when going into a game (primarily Counter-Strike...
I'm building a new system and am using the Seagate 7200.10 drives for storage, and I'm wondering if it's worth it to reformat my 80GB Raptor (it's one of the older ones. not the X) and use that for the OS and whatnot. I hear the 16MB Seagate drives are nearly as fast (if not faster at times)...
Great response, thanks! Unfortunately now I'm on my (soon to be) old machine running WinXP SP2 32-bit, so I suppose I'll have to wait until I build the new one, install Vista 64-bit, then use vLite to pare everything down and then reinstall?
