    PStwo + car

I'm trying to put a PStwo (slim ps2) in the car and I would like to avoid the use of an inverter if possible. The PStwo uses an external power supply that provide 8.5V and around 5.3A. I have a few questions as to the feasibility of using linear regulators or something similar to acheive this...

    External enclosure

Another main problem is that 3.5" drives require 12 volts which USB can't provide.

Can CAT 6 wire handle power supply?

Last I checked, 24AWG can handle about 1.3A. I suppose you could get around 10A if you used all 8 wires.

    Raid 1 for backup

Is it like this: Disk 1 + Disk 2 in the server, Disk 3 offsite. Time for next backup: Disk 1 + Disk 3 (rebuilt off Disk 1) in the server, Disk 2 offsite If so, that dosen't sound too bad to me. The problem with RAID is that although it protects against a drive failure, there are many...

    Max FAT32 Partition Size?

NT based Windows (2000/XP/2003) will only let you format FAT32 partitions up to 32GB. If you want to format a partition larger than this, either put it on a 9x machine, or use something like this: http://www.mager.org/mkdosfs/

need to rma a dead hard drive, how to ship it?

If you have a credit card, do an advance RMA and then send the drive back in the box they send you. If not, according to WD's approved packaging guidelines: Now, I'm not sure if that means you can't use peanuts when shipping multiple drives or any drives. I think bubble wrap will be a...

    When does 370gb = 400gb?

The point here is that they're not both referring to the same number of bits. While 1 mile = 1.6 km may be close enough for government work, there is a 7.3741824% difference between 2^30 and 10^9. Not exactly insignificant. However, like sales tax, it goes with the territory and should be...

    Wire gauge for lighting/fans only

Hey masher, Can you show me a good AWG-ampacity chart, especially with regard to the higher gauges? 16A sounds like a lot for 18 gauge to me. I was always under the impression that 14 gauge was good for 15A. If 18AWG can do 16A, then I should be able to run 4A over 24AWG?

    The Hard Drive Journey...

Your drive is likely formatted NTFS. ME will not be able to do anything with NTFS. Even if it could see it, his FAT32 drive can't handle >4GB files.

    Vantec IceBerQ4 and DFI LP NF4 Ultra-D

It looks like it will fit but this is just by my finding a picture of your board, resizing it so that the chipset cooler's pushpins are the same distance apart as on the IceBerq4, and holding the IceBerq4 up to the screen. The only thing that looks like it could be an issue is the crystal...

Anyone want million+ Gigabytes HD Storage System?

Looks like a typo. It says 96 drives for 480 TB. Unless my math is wrong, 96*500 = 48,000 GB, 48 TB, not 480.
