Glossy for distance: with a screen several feet away you can adjust your position easily to remove glare. Matte for close: With a close up screen you cannot adjust for reflection as easily and a larger area is seen reflected.

I splurged on this monitor, my dell 3007wfp in hopes it would see dual use as a HDTV and monitor but so far I haven't found people having much sucess and it's hard to find clear answers. In you opinion what would be the best way to get this thing running some consoles.

It simply took too much effort. I gave tablets a try and they were neat and especially helpful for photoshop but as for general notetaking a tablet couldn't compete with a $2 paper notepad.

Oh god this buzzing is driving me nuts. It's loudest when the monitor is off or when I scroll webpages. I guess some people can just hear frequencies others can't. :mad:
The garmin i3 is awesome for the price definately check that out unless you want to load windows whenever you want to use your gps.
For a laptop in that price range I'd buy a used thinkpad on ebay.
Check out Crumpler's line of laptop backpacks. They have a padded removal sleeve that integrates inside the bag and are built ricidulously tough. Mine has stood up to several years of abuse all while protecting my laptops perfectly.
