Pixel 6 / Pixel 6 Pro / Pixel 6a

Yeah, this is a T-mobile specific thing. Generally we get the OTA within a day of general release also.

I'm on an unlocked phone. I haven't gotten an update. Normally it's Day 1 updates monthly.

Edit: Verizon MVNO

On a T-mobile MVNO here, and still on December's update. This articles puts the blame on T-Mobile trying to get carrier aggregation working on the Pixel 6 and 7.

Agreed on 'not a good look', the lack of communication is terrible in this day and age. You'd think Google would take it as a chance to sort WiFi to cell handoff sorted and brag about it.

And also agree that I'm not worried enough to sideload.

I hear there is a March patch with important security updates, but my P6 on T-mobile doesn't seem to be able to get it OTA.

Supposedly the March update is late across the board for all Pixel devices/carriers. I guess this update also unifies things for people on the beta track, too.

OTA files are available now. My phone didn't see any updates via the update button, so going this route. It's like 10x faster anyway.

I like that when you pull down the top shade it shows the date/time/details/etc.
Hopefully they expand upon that concept and will eventually allow you to quickly open the clock and calendar that way.
One of these days there will be a new Nova Launcher, too...maybe. The last beta came out more than 6 months ago. At this point I'm wondering if the new owners have abandoned it.

So this is the patch that fixes this week's panic about WiFi calling, right? Right?

I'm thinking of getting a refirb pixel 6. The 6 pro is only about $70 more, but I'm not crazy about curved screens.

From where and for how much?

Right now, the Pixel 6a is $299 from Google direct and you have a brand new phone with a brand new battery that performs almost identically to the P6.

the 6 from ebay for $230: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255889634522?epid=8059143995&hash=item3b9435f4da:g:1P0AAOSw-zVjoyPp&amdata=enc:AQAHAAAA4Eo9us57lBBnMkOJLZYLqd5DqpsxqhU4RnYcb2Mwyl60+P+zldE1IO/XItgQ6SEsMhuhQPxyBuRLNheRT+VOqy/OV6xm+GaiA2QvK/78x9ZyakMj0R+Hgn9d1j2W861bZ4ZfUnptw85Jk+nmy1w2cEENiE15vEbtdzQWwJjbq5VLcx6gb4tW5udAeYpWAugkBVL+yHHNxEnLgtLZhiw/NWmcDeFfjmUWfUFLKTgX2Oqo0rp/+CDcNkuRQDKuBQXf4G7QbCP3vb8Y9enll4BB1hdi5TlHoViKWA5DhxorZjGy|tkp:Bk9SR_D27vPgYQ&LH_BIN=1&LH_ItemCondition=1000|1500|2010

it has a 1 year warranty. amazon renewed also has it for the same price but no warranty. good point about the battery. I saw the specs of the 6a and not sure if I want a smaller screen and less ram though than my current phone which is a oneplus 7t. oneplus can't figure out how to get android 12 working on this device. they released the update then pulled it cause it was so buggy. will be my last oneplus.

edit: I thought the 6a had 90hz refresh rate, I guess to get that you have to do some mod. no way I'll get that. $300 for a phone with a 60hz refresh rate is silly. my oneplus 7t sells for $150 used and has a 90hz

The Google Pixel 6 Pro is a higher-end device compared to the Google Pixel 6a, and as such, it comes with more advanced features and better specifications. Some reasons why the Pixel 6 Pro might be considered better than the Pixel 6a include:
  1. Display: The Pixel 6 Pro has a larger and higher resolution OLED display compared to the Pixel 6a, making it better for media consumption and gaming.
  2. Camera: The Pixel 6 Pro has a more advanced camera system with a larger sensor, better low-light performance, and more advanced features compared to the Pixel 6a.
  3. Performance: The Pixel 6 Pro has a more powerful processor, more RAM, and more storage compared to the Pixel 6a, making it better for multitasking and demanding applications.
  4. Battery life: The Pixel 6 Pro has a larger battery capacity compared to the Pixel 6a, which should translate to longer battery life.
  5. Design: The Pixel 6 Pro has a more premium design with a glass back, metal frame, and a matte finish, compared to the Pixel 6a's plastic build.
However, the Pixel 6a is likely to be more affordable compared to the Pixel 6 Pro, and it may be a better option for users who don't need the advanced features :)

Yeah I mean that's a no brainer. The 6a was $249 brand new though. Probably not going to find a P6 Pro brand new at that price though.

Any news on an April patch? Feels like yesterday that we got the March one. Which is almost true. Hopefully the delays come to an end.

Not only got the April update last month, but installed the May update just today. Seems like Google has caught up.

Am I the only one who can't set the wallpaper to change daily anymore? I don't seem to have the option anymore. I have the Pixel 6a.

Edit: Nevermind its still available. Juste not for all types of background.

I read that we should get a security update today. But my phone claims ignorance. Anybody got the September update?

I heard it was delayed to October as it will include the Android 14 OS upgrade

Can't believe I'm considering moving to an iPhone this year...

You'll probably be happier with an iPhone than you'd expect, but I wish it was under different circumstances. You shouldn't feel like you're being pushed into a switch.

only thing that makes me want to switch to iphone is the apple watches seem to be way nicer than whats available to android. especially for accuracy like gps and heart rate.

Samsungs new GW 6 seems to be trying to address this

I don't think they are trying, at all. its pretty much the same watch as the 4. theres no multi band gps like the garmin and apple watches have now. I did just get a refirb GW 5 with lte for $127 which is hard to beat for the price to replace my GW active 2.

Thingie is finally offering me the September update when I ask for it directly.

No clue if it'll really happen, but supposedly we're going to be getting Android 14 this week. Possibly as early as noon'ish today.
