S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

I won't pay attention to hackers threats, I'll still buy this on day 1.
Ultimatums are a declaration of powerlessness so any hacker "threatening" is not a hacker; just a kid in a bedroom with time on his hands, maybe still butthurt over the birthday he didn't get a pony ride and cotton candy.

Capital-H Hackers of the dangerous kind are invisible and will fuck shit up without any drama-queening, or even needing to make it known why, nor necessarily wanting anything.

How dare developers in a warzone who lost an actual developer to said war delay a game's release? I'm going to throw a temper tantrum and threaten to ruin the developer so the game never gets released!

How big of a POS do you have to be to go after a studio like this...

^ I wouldn't even assume the "hacker(s)" are actually Russian. This is the internet. Could be a dude sitting in India or a grandmother in Singapore, LARP'ing as their idea of a "Russian hacker" for the lulz. I say that because the demands are too obvious, unimaginative, almost cliche.

I wouldn't "assume" it, but if you know anything about the STALKER fanbase, you'd realize it's a pretty safe bet. Just check out STALCRAFT or the reams of original trilogy mods to see who is developing and playing them.

But to be charitable, the toxic entitlement of some "fans" on the internet is an issue that knows no borders.

People who would download the stolen code, and people who would never have bought the game.....

Can you spot the difference in these two pictures?

They're the same picture!!!

Text meme over with, Im excited for this game and everyone I know who knows of this series is as well. We were all going to buy it anyway, for support of the studio. The same reason I own copies of the first stalker on disc AND two steam accounts.
GSC knows this and has no fear for actual sales - just, as they clearly and nicely put it, ruining surprises and what to expect by viewing incomplete and possibly removed stuff. They know how important atmosphere is for STALKER fans.
WE know how important it is.

This leak will cost them no sales, in my opinion. Its not a good thing to happen, but its not the end of the world.

The game is still going to be an awesome game, and well worth the cost of admission. GSC has done us proud each time before, and even improved each time.

Outside of curiosity I am not sure who would want to play a buggy incomplete game. I'm sure some Russian developer will make an illegal asset flip of the game though.

I'm not clear whether this is a "new" hack or a continuation of the previous one.

At any rate it doesn't seem to have hampered GSC's progress in any major way. I'm sure every good Stalker will be patient and resist the temptation...

Xbox is planning one of the biggest booths it's ever had at Gamescom this year...this seemingly isn't just marketing talk either, with Insider Gaming being told by its sources that the team is going "all out" this year for the annual event

It's understood that playable games will include the likes of the highly anticipated Forza Motorsport, GSC Game World's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, and Towerborne...with these games being playable to attendees, we should expect to hear more details on each of the games during the event...

Could this be the start of the long-rumored "media blitz 4 months before release" I remember GSC talking about , way back in the before-times?

Would line up with the December release window that is still up.

most December dates are just placeholders...I wouldn't count on this until 2024...I'm guessing Feb/March 2024

looks like S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 has been delayed to Q1 2024

*not official yet but the website has been updated with the new Q1 2024 date

I fully expected it. No way it will release 2023 with such little coverage. I think it may even slip to late 2025. I am very disappointed but understand the war easily added 1-2 years of development time.

With Baldur's Gate, Starfield, and the Cyberpunk expansion coming out I think I'm good until Q1.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Going Hands-on with the First Ever Playable Demo

This Gamescom, for the first time, GSC Game World's long awaited sequel is available to play on the show floor—albeit just the smallest possible slice...but while the demo may be only 15 minutes long, it manages to pack in all the grim, dystopian misery a Stalker fan could want...

I don't want to contemplate 2025 but I don't expect this game in the first 3 months of 2024, honestly. Games releases don't miss out on the holiday sales rush lightly.

On the bright side, maybe developers are finally learning a quick buck isn't worth the PR nightmare of hurrying a buggy mess out the door?

That trailer looks quite a bit worse than what was shown previously. Just compare it to this graphically:

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZqMt74hO6U

Not uncommon to see graphical down grades but this looks noticeable. I hope that was recorded on consoles or a low end PC, but you'd assume for marketing it would be recorded at max settings. That smoke coming from the guns just looks so unnatural and distracting.

definitely doesn't look as crisp and detailed but hopefully it's because it was an Xbox build

The second trailer has an xbox logo/Microsoft at the very end and not the first one, so could be.

Microsoft is publishing the game, and Xbox is Microsoft's gaming brand that encompasses everything gaming including PC.

Yeah definitely noticed the downgrade in that new trailer straight away.

Saw a couple couple comparison vids on YT as well later. Huge difference. Definitely hope that's Xbox, cause even the frames looked low with the poorer gfx...

Yeah. Graphics aren't everything, but the lighting and even textures looked a lot worse than what we saw previously.
