Hi so i bought an open box rtx asus 4090 oc today from microcenter , I really only play ms flight sim, I also have in my house a gigabyte 4090 oc and an asus 4080 oc, The gigbyte under the same sceens in msflight sim is getting 79 fps, the asus 4090 open box is getting 49 and my asus 4080 oc getting 49. Does anyone know is the board inside the asus 4090 and 4080 the same can u swap them ? i feel like the open box 4090 that is what they did if it is possible to switch...? And if so is there anyway for me to tell?

GPU-Z

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

Also, the driver control panel for Nvidia, has an information tab to see which GPU is installed.

wow sorry guys if i knew what i was doing i would of know to download this!!! but i did and yes it says 4090 !!!! maybe i got some setting off, but thank u guys!!!!

I would DDU and clean install drivers and retest.

any setting u guys can think of to check if its right that can make a difference ? eec should it be enabled?

Were both the Gigabyte and ASUS 4090 cards being run with the same CPU? MS Flight Sim can be very CPU-bound, or so I hear. If they're in different systems that could be throwing off the comparison.

You're CPU limited most likely, flight sim is mostly single threaded from what I understand. It distributes some workload on other cores, but once the main game thread hits 100 percent that's where it tops out.

yes both were tested on same system the only one i have..

Is it running PCIe 4 16 X
Are all 4 cables connected through independent cables from PSU - no daisy chain
Did you reinstall drivers (if not did you reboot PC after first boot)
Have you tried to see how many watts the card is pulling and what MHz it is running at? (you can do that through monitoring in MSI AB or HWINFO
Is re-bar enabled
Did you update bios on motherboard

Post shots of GPU-Z, HWINFO or MSI AB monitoring
You should not be getting 49 fps with the card - otherwise return as card might be defective?

Hope this helps

It seems like in this thread, he's asking if his 4090 could maybe have been swapped out with a 4080 PCB by whoever returned it to Micro Center, whereas before he was just asking why the framerate is the same with the 4090 as it is with a 4080.

Assuming this is the "TUF" model, it looks like the 4090 cooler might fit on the 4080 board, but if GPU-Z is saying it's a 4090, the idea that this might have happened is unlikely.

Far more likely is that he's just CPU bound, which is pretty common in flight simulators. DCS World suffers from that as well. So, the real problem here exists between the keyboard and chair.

You can run a benchmark like time spy to see how you score compared to other 4090s

I think it’s the same dude who makes these stupid threads everytime some new hardware shows up. Been banned on multiple forums.

Yet Hard seems to always let people in.

yes thank u thats what im asking about i had bought a few of these video cards maybe cause i am dumb but i keep thinking one of these cards is going to be magical and i am like going to see 200fps on flight sim, and what u can not start a diff thread with a diff problem and while talking some of the same questions come up that u might of asked before in a diff thread ? maybe i never got the right answer to another thread ?? anyway this was about how to tell if the card i bought someone did not change the boards and i mentioned frame rates cause thats what led me to believe something was wrong!! i might ask about frame rates in 10 more posts who ever does not like it dont answer sounds like u got way to much time on your hands who ever it was that remembers everyones threads get a life!!!

and i will add one more thing so i do not get caught lying again !!!!! lol I showed a few threads up i downloaded the software gpz and u see i sent a screenshot and it said 4090 so i got my answer so consider this thread done!!! i got my answers thank u guys very much!
