I guess check your stores and see if they happen to have any in stock,

The only shipped by newegg 3080TI are a $850 Peladn and a Maxsun at $950, even the zotac 3080TI on amazon are over $1100

So in a sense could be the cheapest you can find new online.

But the 6950xt can be found for $700 on amd.com (with Callisto Protocol and Dead Island 2 if those title are of any interest) and 4070ti being $800 (10-15% higher performance at 1440p, sometime 90 watt less used when gaming, usually less noise)

If you've got $720 you need to scrounge either $80, $180, or $280 and get a 4070 Ti, 7900 XT, or 7900 XTX. My vote is XTX...but then again, for merely $200 more you can go 4080!

3090's were going for $750 recently so this isn't a hot deal at all.
Without the benefit of time machines yet existing, if someone needs a GPU now then this it's still a decent option in price/performance.

However if I was advising a friend I'd recommend a 40-series due to the newer silicon, better VRAM layout, and longer tail on both resale value and driver optimizations/updates.

This. If you're going to spend $700+ dollars on a graphics card, what's an extra 150-200 to get something more powerful.

Ahh, the death trap of buying pc components above your budget. Some people have very hard price points and will not go a dollar above it. It always gets me when someone says I'm looking to spend X; But get recommendations with prices beyond their budget.

Haha. Versus buying year or years old tech for 85% of current gens cost.

It's not like the 3080Ti is so old that it's slow and outdated. runs current games just fine
Sure. It's your call. I'd rather spend a bit more and have the latest support. I think it's a mistake to save a few bucks to get "old" stuff. If anything, buy used to save a bigger gap, at least.

used is like $100 less than new.

Ah, then buy a 4070 Ti!
personally, I'll probably just stick with this 3080Ti for the next few years. I think I played a game for 10 minutes last week. Just lost the desire to game.

It’s a great card. It’s worth trying to find something that aligns. It’ll be a good stress reliever. I’m not ashamed to say I play Fortnite about 99% of the time. Simple, quick, great graphics, awesome stress reliever. If you can find a game that you can do bite size sessions it’ll help you find more time with your busy schedule and/or lack of desire.
Just gotta get that spark back!

I used to play a lot of Overwatch but stopped playing shortly after it was converted to Overwatch 2, it just lost its soul.

I never played it, but I think it's lame they forced the conversion to overwatch 2 by changing the old game into it.

I have a 3090 and am kind of pissed at nvida. I mean 1699 for a card to be shit on by the 4xxx series just a short time later. My rig is all amd ryzen, thinking i might get a 7900xtx but damn it draws a lot of power. Thinking I either get a 4070ti or just suck it up and get a 4090

I mean it's no different than before, every 2 years or so they pop out another generation of video cards since at least the 900 series. And if you bought the 3090 you basically bought what used to be called the "Titan" video card which was always grossly overpriced compared to the next lowest card. If anything I'd be pissed that the 3090 prices dropped more than $500 (which was like the only Nvidia 30 series card to actually drop in price)

I've got one as well, not sure why you'd be upset about it, it happens with most good releases (unless you weren't expecting Nvidia to have back to back good card series) , especially with the top cards , generally overpriced for the gain.

All I'm saying is if a person is willing to spend $700 dollars on something they absolutely don't need, whats a few more hundred dollars? If youre willing to go the extra mile, you can go an extra foot too.

People still have budgets.

this is why unless you have infinite money and upgrade as a hobby it's best to just buy and forget it exists

I don't think it would be wise to spend $700 dollars on 3+ year old technology when you can pay a little extra to get current gen.

The current gen completely dropped Windows 7 support and it's currently impossible to hack back in So the 3080ti and 3090 are still the top dogs for optimized Windows 7 gamers. You couldn't pay me to use a 4070ti.

Windows 7 is a great OS, the best right behind Windows 2000, but why on earth are people still using it? Windows 10 is everything W7 has to offer and more. Windows 11 sucks though.

The cards in particular are the Founders Edition variants which have been out in the market for over two years now.

If it makes you feel better I carted every model and got 250 mile errors on all of them.
Even if you saw them in-stock you probably wouldn't be allowed to buy one.

And all the 3080s were pre-sold out it seems...

Only higher end 30XX series showing up in stock for me is an EVGA 3080ti for $1429.99

They're trying to model it in the likeness of a sports league--if I'm reading the situation correctly, anyway. And, while I agree that it sucks from the perspective of player choice, it *does* make sense from a business/strategic standpoint.
