Diablo IV - The Real Official Thread

Now folks, do not rush out and pre-order the game please... wait till it is released, so that Blizzard has to make sure they release a solid game, not a steaming pile of beta crap that takes a year to patch properly and get working!
Too late. There are tons of people in D3 with the wings. I'm sure they've already solds 10's of thousands of copies. Especially when accounting for global sales.

Its my understanding from the product review that the actual game does not come with the Ultimate Collectors Edition.
I see no proof of that. All editions state that they include d4 for battlenet.

Show me otherwise

I thought both the Limited Collectors and the Ultimate Edition were the same thing, never mind then, carry on...

Come all up in here making it sound like i made a bad purchase under the influence......

I probably did, but not like that. ;)

The important things is that you stay under the influence on launch day, that way you can't be bothered with the outcome.

Diablo 4 Will Not Have Item Sets At Launch

https://gamerant.com/diablo-4-item-sets-launch/

I get where the devs are coming from. In Diablo 3 set items basically pigeonholed you into a build you may or may not have wanted, bonuses that you may or may not have wanted to use, and I agree, it was boring.

Having no set items may give players more freedom to explore a build of their choosing or it could be just laziness of the developers, we'll know in June.

Ehh it'll prevent looking at the characters on the ladders and having everyone looking like a clone of each other, wearing the same sets. They need to create items, not sets, that modify your character or abilities in impressive or unique ways, something indie devs like GGG have been doing with PoE. And after they have taken that first step, then they can worry about sets.

I do want the Diablo franchise to get back on track and provide some competition in the arpg space, but sets are not the thing to be concerned about. There's other ways of providing synergy with your character's loadout.

Yeah but isn't' that one of the benefits of having Transmogrification in D3? Can look however you want, but with the set pieces you need.

D4's system for transmog is cumbersome at best, as is literally everything to do with vendors.

I think that's something that people are going to demand a change to, especially those who already treat the town as lava, given that the layouts and distance between vendors is just god awful. Fingers crossed for more centralized towns for more fluid gameplay.

Yay for large online games with multiple players in the same zone. They have to spread out the town so they spread out the server load and don't have everyone standing on the same spot. It's not a problem for D3 because you are in much smaller instanced zones.

Cool, they can still do better

"Path of Exile 2's full details will be shared during ExileCon 2023, which takes place between July 29 and July 30. Hopefully, this is when we'll finally learn more about its release date."

And this, is why we wait..

I wonder if this would be a good PS5 X-BOX game and you could forget about the Battlenet server browser?
I would rather have it on PC but if the graphics are basically going to be the same I'll take the PS5 version.

After what they did to Path of Exile to appease console gamers I have no faith in the sequel.

Path of Exile was a great game until it caught consolitus.

It wasn't the consoles that killed PoE, it was all the bloat. If anything, GGG taught us that there is a point where too much content can be added to a game.

I completely agree here, the game was still amazing when it hit consoles. It's so full of garbage I can't play it anymore. I took two years off and tried to come back, there was so much going on I shut it off, it's just a deluge of crap.

I've enjoyed the heck out of Path of Exile, though the only thing I like to play is summoner necro and winter orb for their clear speed. I played the heck out of those and then lost interest in playing the game. I beat Kitava in HCSSF Ruthless at the end of last year and decided I was done with POE for a while. That gave me a great sense of accomplishment, and I can't think of anything else I want to do in the game.

I'm not really interested in sophisticated 3-button plus builds...too much work. POE is great for people who want to put together super technical builds and engage with a huge variety of sophisticated mechanics. And even for others I think its worth playing, but there are definitely other options out there.

I've been playing good ole Diablo II lately when I want a traditional arpg fix. Hopefully DIablo IV is a great game. I'm sure I will play it and POE2 eventually. I am a little burned out with the genre at the moment though.

That sounds a bit annoying. One thing that turned me off to WoW is all the running around you have to do to progress with your professions. I like the game and the main campaign but that grind just didn't appeal to me that much...seemed like a lot of grind for diminishing returns. I guess that is pretty much what endgame content is supposed to be though.

D4 needs to hurry up.. probably my most anticipated game to play this year.

That and Ark 2 which has been relatively silent.

Blizzard has added a guide for the beta.

https://news.blizzard.com/en-gb/diablo4/23916442/your-guide-to-the-diablo-iv-open-beta

Everyone will have access to it eventually..

"During both the Open Beta and Early Access weekends, players will be able to intimately explore the early game of Diablo IV. This includes a first taste of the campaign via the Prologue and the entirety of Act 1. The first zone, Fractured Peaks, is yours to navigate as you please—stampede through the rugged landscape and cut down demons.

For the Open Beta and Early Access weekends, your character can only level up to Level 25, but you’re welcome to continue ripping through demons until the Open Beta ends. Make your mark on Sanctuary by clearing hellish hordes from dungeons, completing intriguing quests provided by the locals, and amassing powerful loot from fallen foes.

Simply put, this is your opportunity to combat the might of the Burning Hells prior to our June 6 release. With that said, the experience is not finalized and you may encounter performance issues, outages, and come across things that simply don’t work. After the Open Beta concludes, we’ll evaluate all feedback we’ve received and will make changes as needed. We look forward to you experiencing this small taste of what Diablo IV has to offer.

If you have not already pre-purchased a copy of Diablo IV for your platform of choice and want to get Early Access to the Open Beta, visit here.*"

Check out link for more info/sections to read about the beta.

You can also get an early beta access code by buying a KFC Double Down sandwich.

I'm honestly torn on the KFC code. I feel like it's only going to be better to wait a month for the first few patches.

I can't remember D3's release other than them pulling the market almost immediately. I remember it ran okay, just the servers were getting absolutely pounded, creating a nasty queue.
Are we expecting D4 to run like crap as most games do upon release these days?

The closed beta ran extremely well for me outside of the occasional bout of lag or the giga-memory leak which crashed my system when D4 was using nearly 30gb of ram, lol.

I'm not the slightest bit worried about how it will play outside of connectivity issues. Millions of people trying to play the same game is always worrisome.

This is probably the only game I'm actually looking forward to this year think I'll preorder it for the March Beta. I don't know if I want the PS5 version or PC version since I don't care for the Battlenet launcher.

Looking at Gameplay they really made this game dark and gloomy not sure if that subtracts from it. I'm sure not all areas if them game are like that.

That is messed up if it's using all your Ram.

This is the only game worth the EA I can think of. Just remembering the horrors of...well, every Blizzard launch, but D3 specifically. Getting in a couple days early then taking a break on official launch day is probably a smart choice.

I suppose I could call in for work on the 17th :yuck:

Unless my new Oled monitor permits me to play game with zero eyestrain the following day I duno. I see the Deluxe edition which is 89.00 has 4 day early access when the game launches so maybe June 2nd June 6th is the official launch day.

Nothing like outages lol I think I'll wait for a preorder for this game I have nothing to gain or loose on this one there could be problems for weeks at launch.
Plus the Deluxe edition is 94.00 with tax.

I'm not pre-ordering until they explain how a battle pass works when they said "cosmetics only" for micro transactions.

Agreed that I'm looking for an excuse to get an OLED, but if you get eye strain that bad you should look at the ergonomics of your setup, especially screen glare and some indirect light / monitor backlight. Made a world of difference for me anyway...

It was likely a build from August using a really shitty RTX implementation, to that point, and only a problem at max settings. It was an obvious bug and I have no concerns about it being present in later builds, let alone release.

They very clearly explained this back in August

The cosmetics, battlepass or the in-game cosmetic shop, are the only thing you're paying for.

Diablo 4- Official Open Beta Announcement Cinematic

Open Beta: March 24- 26
Early Access: March 17- 19

What is with the crap-tastic compressed to crap video... so much banding and low quality even when set at 1080 on youtube...

Official game play in 4k..from 13 days ago

Have they said anything about supported resolutions?

Diablo 3 worked fine in 3840x1080, but I'm wondering if they'll double down on banning my resolution like in overwatch.

Path of Exile has ruined this genre for me. If I don't have to bother with three monitors up, a market to follow, a dozen third party programs to effectively play, and am clearing mobs a hundred at a time it doesn't hold my attention. XD

I played Path of Exile when it was still in early stages of development up until I killed Dominus and completed the pseudo ending to the game. After that the big update hit and they totally ruined the game with too much bloated crap in it and consolized camera angle.

I hope Diablo IV doesn't fall victim to that, but seeing how companies are trying to squeeze every ounce of money they can out of their IP right now. I am afraid that it will.

The other option is to just ignore it, or pay what you want to pay for the content that you are interested in.
