Hogwarts Legacy

The funny thing is she been on record saying that she has no issues with trans people. The only controversial thing she said is they shouldn't compete in women sports.
Well, that and women's bathrooms, locker rooms, rape crisis centers and safe houses should not sacrifice the safety of non-trans-women on the altar of "trans rights". I think most people tend to agree with all that. She even started a NEW rape crisis center for biological women only and somehow that's horribly bigoted. Like, she's not allowed to donate her own money to help specific victims of assault ? They're insane

Took a quick look at reddit for fun. Lots and lots of 8gb vram seething.

Incredibly glad I didn't go through with pursuing a 3070 as I originally intended to do.

Nvidia drivers 528.02 are what I've been using successfully . I'd be curious if it helps any of you with troubles. I'll try to screenshot my game settings soon.

Everybody should who cares about not living in a clown world where observable reality is blasphemy and feelings are fact.

I always have to laugh at people whose immediate reaction to criticism is that you must hate it all then. Heck, I wasn't even critical, I just stated things as they are without comment outside of one shocked face smiley. It doesn't affect the meat of the game yet. I'm sorry you can't stomach even mild criticism without blowing a gasket, so here is a trigger warning for you: I'm staying and will probably have more things to criticize about the game before the day is over.

The more you ignore it the harder they push it, we tried to take it as no big deal, gave an inch, now they demand a mile, if we give a mile, they'll want it to go all the way to the moon. My position is now that we shouldn't even have given an inch. Today it is just a gender fluid character creator tomorrow you get -25% HP if you try to create a cis character. And get reported to the thought police if you refuse to be 'friendly' with the trans character in game.

You could've fooled me, you sound ready to give in without a fight.

Sincerely, a hard-line liberal leftist, who stands on the side of sanity against mindless drivel and with actual justice against social justice.
See, this is what really bugs me about this. The VAST majority of people have no interest in this, from both the staunch conservative to the hard line left. Nevermind the middle that doesn't care about any of this crap. Its unbelievable that this is all portrayed like the most important issue of the century and if you don't agree you're just a terrible bigot. .

Seeing how much slower it is on 10GB 3080 than a 12GB 3060, there must be something wrong with how the game handles VMEM.

The lack of difference between the different Nvidia gpus is strange. Gotta be some sort of driver issue.

Upgraded to 32GB of RAM last night and the game ran great for an hour or so. Then my game crashed and performance tanked, I couldn't get performance back to normal even after reboots or reverting to old drivers. Very strange.

I ended up turning off ray tracing and everything is working much better now.

Hopefully it's a driver or game issue that gets patched soon. My son and I already trip the breaker our PCs are on in the summer. A 4090 would make things so much worse and I would have trouble buying a 4080 given how close they are in price.

well, if you run reasonable settings it will probably run fine. everyone seems to be expecting 4k ultra with max rt to be a breeze to run...
I'm an eye candy cranked to the max kinda guy but don't have an issue playing at 1080

if any fellow canuckistanis was to pick it up a bit cheaper hrkgame.com has it for $69(nice!) all in.

Is the 3080 ti THAT much better at ray tracing than the 3080? That's some fucky shit right there.
No, at this point it appears to be more about VRAM, as some users have been saying from the start. 10GB just doesn't cut it for ray tracing in this game.

I didn't want to believe it but the benchmarks are pretty clear.

Sounds like they aren't efficiently utilizing the vram. I do notice with ray tracing there's a big problem with certain surfaces creating reflections through walls, corners, etc. I bet RT non visible surfaces are all over the place exponentially increasing the load on these cards.

I am running on a 3090, Ultra, no RT, 4K, 120hz CX 55 OLED. Not watching frames but 21 hours into the game and I've had no hangups, stutters, and had my first and only crash last night (probably because of the heat from my 3090). Saw a bunch of articles about performance and I was like WTF are they talking about? Maybe on a potato PC. Just turn off RT.

I don't think it's that simple. The difference is entirely way too drastic to attribute to just needing an additional 2GB of VRAM

3080 10GB 4/27 fps for 1% and average
3080Ti 12GB 49/60 respectively

A 1225% performance increase for 1% lows and 222% performance increase for average framerate, all attributed to 20% more vram is unheard of. Literally

I used to run 2GB GTX 680's in SLI back in the day, I'm no stranger to running short of VRAM. This was never my experience, and that was with SLI which amplifies things like micro stutter.

There's some serious optimization issues going on with this game.

I watched further into the HUB video and here's further evidence this isn't simply a VRAM issue

6650XT (8GB) getting 6/32
RTX 3080 (10GB) getting 6/25

3080 has 25% more VRAM and it's a more powerful GPU, but getting lower performance

Yeah I saw that a day or two ago- but no confirmation if those who pre-ordered, played early and then played today so far have seen an additional download or not.
well its not fully released in all regions yet, for the UK its 6pm, so maybe later today.

The more videos I see of this game the more I like it. I may just buy it to run around in and look at stuff.

Has this still not released for the base game in the US yet? I bought through steam, have restarted multiple times, and it still says not yet released.

Oh, my...
3070 still above the 11 gig 2080TI, 12 gb 3080 exactly the same has the 10 gb 3080 on that screenshot of the 1440p.

Would the 8 gb 3070 would have been a 10-12gb card instead it would not even be above 50 fps on the 1% low with the extra ram in the scenario that it fail.

At 4k ultra quality the 3070 lack vram, but it would still be unplayable below 45 fps with 16gb anyway (the 6800xt only do 36 low-45 fps average).

I think the whole benchmarking thing is prettty useless at this time because the game shows continually degrading performance with RT after you start playing.

I have a 3080 and got some stuttering running in 2k w/ ultra, DLSS balanced and RT on Medium. But definitely tolerable. Looking forward to patch. Noticed GPU wasn't running much past 50% utilization, but when I turned off NVIDIA Latency is would drive the GPU up to 78-85% utilization...but the latency would then be bouncing around. Weird.

Put in about 6-8 hours...really enjoying it. just made it into town -
