bad RAM slot - should RMA this board or OK to use?

I just upgraded my system with an ASUS ROG X670 Strix-EA, 7900x and 2 32 GB of Crucial 5200 speed RAM. For only 2 sticks of RAM ASUS recommends using slots A2 and B2. System barfs and the beeper goes long-short-short for bad RAM if either stick is in slot A2. Put either stick in any other slot and all works fine. The motherboard Q-LEDs eventually turn white, so the RAM is good.

So is it OK for me to run with the RAM in slots A1 and B1?

EDIT: One RAM stick is definitely BAD. So it's RMA time with Crucial :banghead:

for the good one, have you tried to install it at slot A2?
for both Intel & AMD, AFAIK installing on A2 B2 was always the best option for 4 dimm slots mobo

If this is a new product take it back and get another one, the hell with RMA'ing it. The Boards should be PERFECT for what we have to pay for them. Same with the RAM, and you should be running DDR5 6000 anyway.
 
I agree with the others, exchange with the retailer / vendor if you can.
Generally speaking RMA might require you to pay for shipping, slow processing, stock availability, wait for shipping both ways, get a refurbished instead of new, just more trouble than dealing with the seller.
I am assuming you tested one stick at a time and found a bad stick and ruled out bad RAM slots.

With the retailer, I can only do a return. Once before I had to do a Crucial RMA. Got back new in a box RAM, that was stable for years.

Yes I did test both RAM sticks and all RAM slots. ;)

Did you microwave it?
