What was your buying experience this morning

I really want to get the founders edition. Best Buy went from "Unavailable" to "Sold Out" at about 6:02am. Never got the option to add to cart. The Nvidia store just says "Coming Soon" for the Founders Edition.

For nvidia store the 4090 still just says 'coming soon' (USA here)
For best buy/newegg by the time I got through the queue to actually buy the items that were in my cart, they went out of stock.

I had the MSI Trio in my cart, but didn't check out. Maybe next week I'll change my mind.

Scratch that, managed to get the MSI card at best buy. Looks like cards are going in and out of stock.

4090 Windforce from newegg. One of the few that will fit my case. Not my first pick, so I may try to get a 4090 FE.

Silver lining is that it's going to take roughly a week to get here, so I have plenty of time.

Had a Gigabyte Aorus in cart payment went through and then a got a cancelation no stock at Newegg.
Now everything is out of stock

Had one in my cart at best buy and ended up canceling. It was going to take a week.
If I have to wait a week. Ill get the one I want, or see if microcenter has any left after work.

Having never been to a MicroCenter, I may have to visit one in the coming years. Make a day trip out of it on the motorcycle. Maybe build a high range system.

I have an MSI Gaming Trio in packaging from newegg, estimated to arrive Monday. Snagged it right at 8AM EST.

Yeah mines a little less than a hour and a half away.
Mine is like 3h one way I think. So it'd be a nice ride. Get a card and all the other stuff. take my time building something instead of smashing F5 and buying what's available.

Yeah I called work. I’m gonna just head there now and get it out of the way. To hell with f5.

Newegg just does their normal thing where it's in & out of stock but when you go to add it to the cart you can't buy it. I don't know if there's that many people out there constantly trying to get it or they've done zero too stop bots from instantly purchasing them. And then out of stock everywhere else only B&H would let you do a pre-order for two of their cards, but I think it's two that they have some kind of error because they've been available all morning, the others eventually turned to unavailable. It does seem like less of a frenzy then for the 3000 series. So I think in a week or two it'll be pretty easy to get one.

I would have preferred a 4090 FE but managed to get an MSI Gaming Trio via BB and used the 10% off for cardholders coupon floating around. Paid less than $100 more for my 4090 than my 3090 FE in 2020, even after tax it came in under MSRP. Now to find a waterblock..

You guys know of any cool stuff I can try out on my 4090?

I checked cyberpunk and there wasn’t an update for dlss 3 yet, but it still ran pretty damn good. Pretty much 2x my 3080 in ultra raytracing. Psycho seemed like more than 2x.

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition (this is a completely separate install from the regular Metro Exodus and was provided as a free update), Control, MS Flight Simulator, Doom Eternal are pretty impressive stuff. Spider-Man Remastered although again, just like Cyberpunk 2077, it may not be updated yet to take advantage of DLSS 3.

So much for the abundant stock that youtubers were talking about. Didn't even see the buy button on Nvidias site for the FE card today.
The FE seemed to be the unicorn out of the available cards today. I was able to snag a Gigabyte 4090 Windforce from newegg without issue.

Give it some time. Most everything new is out of stock the first few weeks and this is with Nvidia canceling some production after the BC crash. They always want stuff low or out of stock so they can get the highest price. I was almost able to check out at NewEgg a few times and was hours late and not really trying. I think it will be way better than when I tried for weeks to get my 3080. I still wish they would just let folks with a good/long account history just place a flippin preorder and wait it out instead of being treated like animals left to fight with bots or folks that have all day to hit F5.

I have a feeling that stock is being artificially limited to create a perceived, high demand. We will see in the few weeks.
I thought about this earlier and I agree mainly because the card is really only good for 4K/100hz+ gaming. I don't think there are many of us out there. Guessing they want artificial scarcity to trigger people on the edge of buying one's FOMO. I didn't see the FE card in stock either I kept checking Nvidia's site and BestBuy, also checked nowinstock and it didn't even register in the log.

microcenter ST Davids had a shit ton got a msi 4090 at 3pm that never happened before.

Who sells the Founders Edition? Does nVidia sell products directly themselves on their own website?

And Best Buy? Really? They're not known for high end tech stuff typically. Walk into a BB I never see hot new tech stuff on the shelves.

BB has high end electronics and PC parts, but you'll never see them in store. Only online. I remember back in the day they'd have some high end product in store and it would just sit there while the cheap stuff disappeared. This is like 10-25 years ago, but they eventually learned to just sell it online. That used to be the best place to get high end graphics cards. 8800 GTX Ultra!

As with other people, I tried to get the FE Edition, but missed out, never actually seeing it ever go on sale. Next I tried NewEgg, and while I was able to place an order, 30 minutes later I got told it was cancelled due to it being out of stock.

So I gambled and went to my local Microcenter where I managed to pick up an MSI Gaming Trio. Yeah, it only has the 3 power connectors, so I'm not going to be able to overclock, but I can live with that.

I will admit though, that it's much bigger than my 3090 TI, which was larger than my 3090, which in turn was larger than my 2080. Fortunately though, I have a huge case.

Shipped. Should be here by Monday I think. DHL worldwide is dope af. Glad Newegg doesn’t cheap out on international shipping.

Welp... this just got way more expensive.

1. I can't find the additional PCIe power cables needed to power the 4090 when it gets here (only have 2 for the 3080).
2. My current case was a mistake; air flow is horrible and the cables used to power everything are packed in tightly and not easy to reach.

I found a 3rd cable PCIe cable, but it's not sleeved and one end is a different color, which tells me that it belonged to the previous Corsair HX 750 I had; I'm not risking it on a brand new $1600 GPU... This also means I'm now in the market for a new PSU.

I don’t understand why we can’t just preorder this stuff. Apple has reliably let me preorder stuff on launch, without issue, and reliably receive a delivery date estimate that usually turns out to be accurate. In 2022 nobody should be required to constantly refresh pages in hopes of being able to order something. You should be able to add it to your cart, purchase it, and have your order go into a queue.
