[H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears for Nvidia, AMD, Intel, PS5, XBOX

Kind of pissed literally every reviewer threw that chip in to show how capable it is, now demand for it will not drop much if any at all, so prices will remain fixed.
It's the "best in socket" for AM4. This is a problem Intel has suffered for years.
Every 2 cycles, Intel changes their socket, so the best CPU for that socket retains its value... People don't want to replace their mobos, so they just buy the best CPU for their existing mobo.

As an example, the 7700K was around $300 until about 2 years ago. It retained the exact same resale value for 3+ years after launch. Even now the 7700K sells for the same amount as the 8700K. 9900K's are still in the low $300's used.

The situation is far worse for the 5800X3D. There are four generations of AM4 users competing for it, and it's significantly faster than everything else on AM4, even the rest of the 5000 series. Much moreso than Intel's flagship CPUs. I wouldn't be surprised if the price goes up now that Zen 4 reviews are out, people are flocking to it.

You're not kidding. I had a price/stock monitor set for it on Microcenter to get pinged if price ever fell below $399. It's been perpetually in stock for quite a while, until the day the 7000-series reviews hit -- and then poof, OOS ever since.

That, and the 7000-series faces the additional headwind of people already knowing the X3D version is coming Q1, with slides are already leaking.

I highly doubt the performance uplift 7000->7000X3D is going to be anywhere near the delta that 5000->5000X3D saw, but people knowing "the best version of 7000" is coming in 3-5 months isn't helping 7000-series sales now.

Ug. Free shipping is gone on the 3090 though. =( Got to wait until the next real restock on B-stock. =) (Shipping would be $67.94 for Ground!)

Moore's Law is Dead has gaming early benchmark data and says the geomean average is 15% over regular Zen 4. But s9me of the individual games are much higher than that. And some lower, of course.

5800X3D walks on all other cpus in my flight sims including MSFS 2020 and Il2 Sturmovik Great battles. Waiting to see how the 7X00X3D does before I consider the move to DDR5 and AM5. It will be interesting to see how the new silicon and stacked cache manages heat transference and clocks. I doubt they'll be able to clock the cpus 5GHz but I think 4.6-4.8 should be viable and quite sufficient. The 5800 is limited to 1.35V for boost because the cache can't handle higher voltage. The new chips are supposed to be unlocked so maybe they're implementing a separate power plane for cache to eliminate that limitation but the temp transference will still be a limiter. This is speculation on my part but we'll see soon enough.

bstock 3080 12 GB AIO $415 ($403 after code).
Bunch of other stuff also on sale. Nothing really amazing though.

I'm sure that one didn't last a hot minute. Wonder how hard that card was mined and what level of damage there was for them to offer it for such a low price.
I mean they were offering 3090 skus at even higher discount percentages relative to MSRP a few days ago. What method of determining "damage"/wear do you believe they have to assign a metric to such? They are offering a year warranty, and it is EVGA, if the card doesn't remotely meet spec, I *highly* doubt they'd do other than chuck it in the bin, as it would cost them more to have to deal with a *second* RMA, especially when they're cutting and running from the gpu/nvidia hustle, where currently they can simply write it off otherwise.

Frankly, unless you know something I don't, I'd think they'd be much less likely to offer a b-stock AIO unless they felt really damn certain it was in good shape. In fact, if anything, the skepticism against a used AIO (AIOs in general frankly), is likely the deciding factor in pricing, however if you've watched this page all week, it's clear they're having a lot of "fun" with the pricing. One day the prices are insane, the next, laughable. I suspect it's at the discretion of some individual posting the stock, one (or some) are just trying to move them, another (or some other), are seeing how fast those cards are moving, and trying to maximize profit instead.

Yeah but everyone was offering BRAND NEW 3090s at heavily discounted percentages relative to MSRP, the fact they were also offering B-stock at that point just is a sign there is WAY too much stock out there.

I'm not sure what metric they're using, maybe there's some rom location on the card that states what the card has done and that's the metric they use. Maybe there's some level of physical wear and tear to the card, that while still functional as a card has some questionable reliability that they're throwing the dice at will work for at least a year, or they're banking on the fact they won't be able to replace said recertified card with a like model (I doubt they'd give any 3080 card as a replacement) so all they'd have to do is refund your money wish in the grand scheme of things is something they'd have eaten anyways.

Don't get me wrong, if I happened to be up at that time I'd probably have tried to pull the trigger on that card too just for funsies. But a 3080 cheaper than their 3060tis new? Yeah there's something a bit sketch about it being THAT cheap. Maybe the pump has a horribly loud whine to it that they consider "still functional"

Sometimes, the simplest answer is correct. Someone just screwed up when they added it to inventory? Fat fingers when pricing it? Maybe an employee who will lose his job due to the changing business model did it and let his friend know when it was going live?

Word, I just thought maybe you had some specific insight about a testing methodology I wasn't aware of. Personally I'm giving EVGA a little more "gut feeling" credit than that, but it's not wrong to be skeptical. Watching their pricing day after day out of curiosity mostly, it's been extremely erratic. I'm still thinking it's random employees just making up prices based on what they think though. There were plenty of fan based cooler cards the other day for rock bottom prices as well, and I just can't imagine they'd send one out with any obvious functional defect like an unnaturally noisy fan or pump probs considering the warranty and claim of them being fully functional/refurbed, but what do I know? 🤷‍♂️

With EVGA out of the picture, I'll be doing the 'ol "Amazon step-up" for my 4090 purchase. As of Oct 1, Amazon's holiday return window began, and lasts four months until January 31. When my 4090 arrives, I'll throw my 3090 in the trash and plug 'er in. Then end of January, I'll either return and step up to 4090 Ti, or re-buy 4090 at lower price.

Who am I kidding? By the time Jan 31 does roll around, I'll have either forgotten or will be too lazy to do anything. This is how Jeff wins.

Of course by the time Jan 31 does roll around, I'll have either forgotten or will be too lazy to return anything - most likely both. Checkmate Bezos.
Hold the phone. I'll gladly take any functional rtx card that is going in the trash. I know that 3090 is practically a dinosaur but some of us are on a budget.

This is why we can't have nice things.

It's just a dinosaur to the early adopters. Don't drink the Koolaid. Most of us are and will be quite content with a 3090 for years.

Lol yeah, I was being sarcastic. I'm a bang for the buck guy myself, I'm still playing old games on an i7 920 with a 650ti.

Edit: Says it's Amazon prime members only, fyi.
PowerColor Red Devil 6950 XT $799.00, Amazon sales.
There's also a XFX Merc for 850.00 if you want a different brand.
Been an Nvidia fan for most of my time with computers, bought a 6900 XT recently out of spite for Nvidias 40 series marketing, loving it so far.

I had a 6900xt and a 3090 and couldn't tell a difference when playing games @1440p. The only caveat is that RDNA3 is due for a November release, so if you can wait a month, you should find all the next gen options available to make an informed purchase.

Sadly no $414 3080 12gb. And here I stayed up to midnight (PDT) to see, does look like same-o-same-o. All the b-stock prices reset to their lowest price, the discounts probably will be lesser and lesser as the week goes on, then Wednesday at midnight (PDT) poof back again. Wonder if other 40 series cards being released will affect the prices at all. Not even sure when the non-4090 cards are being released.

$300 is my cut off on B-Stock, waiting for something like the 2080 Ti (or better) to hit that mark. Assuming the retail GPU market continues to stagnate.

So are the Discord channels Heated for these cards? I'm not even interested in the 4090s just want to see if the Stock holds out.

Same here. I went by Microcenter in Duluth, GA last week and bought an MSI 6900 XT Gaming X Trio for $629. I only see one now in stock at the Marietta, GA store. Not sure about other locations. They had several of these for a week or two. Now if I can just sell the old 6800 Sapphire to recoup some of the cost. :)
