42" OLED MASTER THREAD

That's the Hermal Miller Embody. I have the same chair, but black with mesh to breath a ton (non Logitech color).

Basically the only comfortable chair that keeps me cool.

Does that mean you consider the Aeron to be uncomfortable? I had the mesh version of it at work and found it to be pretty nice. Think I like my Leap v2 better, though. Never sat in the Embody, but it looks like a sweet chair.

Either way...don't cheap out when it comes to your chair, guys. We sit in them every day. Your body will thank you. Yeah, some of them are spendy but are we not in a 4K/120Hz OLED thread, here? :p The cost of a good chair spread out over the course of years is minimal.

Sorry for the OT but after I finally broke down and got my Leap I was actually pretty horrified with how long I put up with my old, uncomfortable mesh chair from Staples that I thought was "good enough" for so many years.

Depends what your ass is worth ;)
That or how tired you are of buying chairs. Some chairs look like they can hold their own, then you read the specs, 160lb capacity, then you wonder why it failed prematurely. Man even a lot of higher capacity chairs have lousy durability.

Beautiful chair. But holy sh!t the price. Almost $2k for a chair. Yikes.
It's an investment. Pay $1500 but it lasts 15 years versus $200 for 1-2 years.
Also your body feels much better, so less expenses dealing with that.

I personally like the Aeron the best, my wife has the Embody. It's great too, I just prefer the Aeron.

I've had the same Steelcase Gesture for many years now and it's almost like brand new still. I bought two for a good price through work but you can often find high end office chairs sold for little money from places where they clear out office furniture. For example a company folded and their assets got sold.

I am spoiled by the dxracer extendable footrest. Can't imagine using a normal chair for my gaming needs anymore, that wouldn't allow me to stretch legs in 180 degrees way. The downside is that it gets really hot.(plan to change foam and fake leather to less sweaty materials)
Also the chair is sturdy as rock. Really keeps in place the 110kg without breaking, bending, squeeling etc, surviving numerous daily adjustments for years now.

Trust me, I agree with you guys, a comfortable chair that's helpful on your back and butt is very important. And that one you have is super cool. But $2k for a chair is just a bit out of my office range.

But at my office, we do have the old school Herman Miller chairs and I love them.

My gaming PC I only use in evenings, and have a cheaper chair, but wouldn't mind an upgrade in the $400 - $500 range. Any suggestions.

Grab a Noblechairs Icon, I love mine. 3 years going strong. Quite affordable. I have the leather variant which is around $700 now but they have PU and fabric options for less. These are not super breathable chairs admittedly but I keep my house cold so it's not an issue for me.

From AW3821DW to LG C2.

Things I like about the C2
- Contrast looks amazing, dark areas in games are actually dark now.
- Much more vertical space, makes games more immersive.
- 4K Resolution.

Things I don't like
-A little reflective. Had to turn off the RGB on my keyboard cause the reflection was bothering me.
-Flat. I was so used to my curved monitor that the screen looked like it bends away at first. I suppose I'll get used to this new viewing angle over time.

Overall, definitely happy with the upgrade. Hopefully the glossy doesn't bother me too much when it gets sunny outside.

What are your thoughts on the text vs the 38"? How about the ABL does it make desktop use annoying vs the 38"?

Yeah Gesture is my GOAT at the moment.

Anyway, I was going to get a 42" C2 this weekend as a secondary display next to my 32", but thought I'd maybe wait for Holiday sales/Blackfriday and hope it gets a lot lower in price. Also wanted to wait for some real PG42UQ reviews in case that ends up being better as a monitor than the C2.

Text looks great on this monitor. I'm not squinting as much and it seems pretty clear/sharp. I don't notice the ABL at all, not on desktop usage or gaming. Maybe someone with better eyes for detail would see it but I don't.

The PG42UQ IS going to be better as a monitor there's no doubt about that. It just depends on how much of a premium you are willing to pay over a discounted C2 to have those monitor features.

Price has gone up. And I don't like neither one of the above models. I bought the Herman Miller Executive High Back, because the arm rest is solid, so my pets can sit next to me, the ones you people have, the arm rest is hollow. (The fabric above is a separate upgrade, Herman Miller doesn't sell the above fabrics)

Amazon's ship dates are all over the place for the PG42UQ. Has the newegg orders already shipped?

Placed a preorder yesterday for the PG42UQ, date pending, mostly to play around with esp. if they ship in Oct and that qualifies for the holiday return window. Not very optimistic about the uniformity based on online reviews which is a huge issue for me.

Where were you able to get an order in?

Nobody wants to see or hear about your stupid chair in this thread. If you're special needs then I can excuse you. SMH

Ever figure out what happend to Newegg for you?
Yeah they won't specify why exactly I was banned other than "security issue" but it's likely because I ship to multiple addresses. I lost access soon as I added a new business address.

They never reinstate banned accounts so oh well. Gonna try and order it with a new account soon as it comes back in stock because Amazon is a week or two behind in getting their shipment it seems and I'm out of patience waiting for this thing all year.

Don't you have a c2 already?

Wait for the 'OLED is so shitty' guy to come in...
He must be blind or in denial.

Everyone else: “Whoa, just got my OLED set up and it’s by far the best looking monitor I’ve ever used. This is next level.”

Him: “OLED sux lol, back to LCD!”

Don't you have a c2 already?
Yeah but I'm really tired of the TV aspect of it and just want something that behaves like a monitor. Will probably pass the C2 down to my bro for his PS5 if the Asus turns out good in person.

Without the damn matte coating I would have ordered on too without hesitation/second thoughts.

There’s is always something, isn’t there? 😏

is Amazon only 30 day return? if Amzn is more than 30 days, then wait for Amzn, as newegg, once you pass that 30 days, you can't even contact them. I have a case of a mouse that c/w 1 yr. warranty, and if registered the warranty, I get 3 yr. So I got it and register it. More than 45 days later, the manufacturer said the mouse from newegg is counterfeit and I don't even get 1 day of warranty. So I try to contact new egg. They block off the means to email, as it pass 30 days. So I remember from other transaction what the newegg email addr. is, and I have to threaten them that I will call the police as that manufacturer told me they sold counterfeit mouse, in order to get the refund. Their service is at the most 1 start out of 5.

IF YOU HAVE TO BUY FROM NEWEGG, USE PAYPAL. THAT WAY, YOU GET 6 MTH. WARRANTY.

Also, newegg was hacked the other yr., so you shouldn't give them cr. card 1 way or the other

Amazon and newegg are both 30 days but newegg adopted the "hassle free" returns thing only recently. Before that they would not accept returns for monitors unless it has x amount of dead pixels or was defective and they'd actually check in order to charge a restocking fee/partial refund. It's the main reason I never bought monitors from them not because I wanted to return 40 displays frivolously but because the horror stories and hassle of just getting a refund through them no matter the condition it arrived in.

Dunno how it is now but I take Amazon CS over newegg anyway.

C2 vs PG42UQ courtesy of TFTCentral. Asus looks like dim lifeless butt cheeks in the side by side but maybe it's because he kept DTM on throughout the comparison.

DTM is flippin amazing for playing old games with windows auto HDR where supported IMO. Using HGiG with the CRU tweak on my LG CX just doesn't look as good. I know some people are super against DTM but I think it's a neat feature to have.

Dang, UPS was a bit rough

Looks like the Asus is up for preorder on BH photo video now as well. Not sure if I should order from there or Amazon since I really don't know if I'll end up keeping it Anyone have experience with them for returns?

Just some quick thoughts after playing some games, this is with firmware V023.
  • The screen feels "smoother" then the C2
  • The AG isn't aggressive at all, you do lose some "pop" compared to the C2 but the color and just vibrancy of the monitor is mostly there still.
  • Even though the color accuracy is shot, using the different game modes do look nice.
  • With the "Uniform Brightness" setting on, the screen feels significantly dimmer overall.

Uniform brightness was broken in those original firmwares. You need v031 as reviewed by TFT Central after the issues with the earlier FW in those areas

I am enjoying my C2 so much. I am going back and play "dark" games (ie Doom) at night with the lights off and it's such an experience. No back light bleed, IPS glow, just feels like you're in the game. Part of me does want a curved OLED monitor. Maybe I'll upgrade in a few years.
