This forum quiet lately. No new issues?

Ok, so the guy is a complete schmuck. Lots of those people around in some forums. Fortunately not in [H]. I would hope that people like that one would get permabanned here.

Sounds like the same realm of schmucks that will tell you that if you are not running the latest, current gen of CPU.. then your current rig is obsolete. I swear, I'd love to reach out and smack the shit out of some of these yahoos.
This is a result of bench-marking, e-penis comparison, and tech goobers , vloggers, influencers.. all garbage content out there

I still have my AMD Phenom tricocore with 4th core unlocked
Recently upgraded to 16 gig memory a SSD and AMD mid range GPU.
Both my youngest are still on LGA1151 systems

I'd like to think that we'd just re-educate him, and his next PC would be a homebrew one.
The really bad cases know that everyone criticizes them, but they see "everyone" as misguided, and they just double down on their insanity. I'm seeing that right now in another forum.

I guess I don't see that every person out there is innately good. There are some problem people, and the best we can do is ignore/isolate them.

Even better would be to influence them to change for the better.

How is enforcing the rules not helpful? Please explain.
Maybe my phrasing was bad.

But for example the whole freak out and constant rule changes regarding scalping in the FSFT was pretty obnoxious.

Yeah, those rules changing two years ago, which had not been touched for a decade, to adjust to tremendously changing market conditions to protect our users is a real bitch.

[H]ard|ness in every form is appreciated, including keeping old hardware running. I have a proper Bulldozer PC, but that's weaksauce since I know there are people here still running PIIs and PIIIs.

Yup... my main rig is a 5950X.

But my two virtualization boxes are a 9590 and an 8120 both with 32GB of ram. Plus I have my old Phenom X6 running some things too (Just rebuilt it too). The old machines live on.

My old mail server is here- it's a 1Ghz Thunderbird. Though it's not been booted in over a decade.

Forums are a dying breed... seems like Reddit and other "social media" platforms are dominating..
Maybe something like REDDIT, but things like Discord are shit for technical stuff because the conversations just disappear. Discord for technical help, for me, is jsut a nonstarter waste of time. Social media isn't really formated to technical stuff and help forums.

So is Tom's any good anymore for the Forums help sections? I just subbed to Anantech and Tom's for the forums only, but I have no clue anymore. Justy seems like all of the old hardware forums are gone. We're a dying breed it would seem. As an upside, at least we do have Youtube being used well for hardware reviews. However, I like print so I can read what I need as fast as I want. I mean, it's not entertainment for me. It's just find information as fast as possible. Times, they do change, huh?

LOL, found out a LONG time ago that as long as your CPU, for example, isn't bottle-necking your video card (for gaming), you're good to go. I kept my old core 920 from 2008 until 2013 and never had a problem, and it would have gone even further, but I had to stop gaming. If you NEED every ounce of power then of course, it's relevant, but form most people, it isn't. It's kind of like storage. How much do you really need?

I dunno man, the Bulldozer was pretty weak sauce, even compared to the PIIs -- lol! Gawd I remember when Bulldozer came out to GREAT fanfare, and then, you could hear a pin drop. We use to kid that they should have called it the Bobcat!

The big irony was that once you patched Intel for Spectre and the other exploit -- AMD was just as good, if not better with graphics. Intel pulled off the cheat.
