Have you ever bought EVGA B-stock with problems?

Back in May, I bought an RTX 2080 on B-stock. I didn't install it, until last night. It has been sitting in its box, on a shelf.

A few days ago, I saw someone on another forum say they had bought a B-stock GPU and it had artifacting. They got an RMA replacement and that one seems good.

Well....my RTX 2080 ballooned my post time to 46 seconds, every time I restart or startup from a shutdown.
Last night's 20 minute test in Elden Ring seemed fine----although, EVGA's fans on their Turing cards are so loud.

I went to bed.
Today I booted the computer-----long post time. Loaded up Gmail and had a couple of screen flickers. One of the flickers was full of white rectangles.
I loaded Elden Ring and in less than 10 seconds it froze, full screen of square artifacts.

Looks like I may have to pay to ship this back----which is going to be like $30 if properly insured :(

I sold an un-opened B-stock RTX 2060 awhile back. I hope that one faired well...

I had a b stock reference 1080 that the fan was totally seized up. Like it wouldn’t rotate even trying to spin it by hand. Evga took the return and replaced it with another b stock card so that was easy enough. Still I had to eat the shipping cost though. Hopefully they take care of you.

Agreed. I test everything right away, new, refurbished, etc. Makes no sense to run out the 30-day clock for a free return and/or complete refund.
EVGA doesn't have as generous of return/refund policies as some of the big brand stores "Returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee if the product packaging has been opened, regardless of whether the product has been used or not."

If there's a problem, they will make it right. If you wait several months to open and test something it doesn't make sense for them to refund or pay for return shipping.

if paid using PP they cover return shipping, also no point insuring a 2080 refurb, just use UPS ground through shippo or similar service for cheap rates.

1. does it say that anywhere on the site?----I planned to ask them if they could at least provide me a shipping label at their rates, which they could then bill me for.

2. They have specific wording in their RMA process about receiving it undamaged and to not use the postal service, etc.

And further:

EVGA recommends shipping via UPS or FedEx. You are highly encouraged, but not required, to purchase insurance on your package with the courier of your choice in case your package is damaged or lost in transit. EVGA recommends you obtain delivery confirmation and a tracking number for your shipment so you have proof of delivery

You are responsible for shipping costs to EVGA, including any duties, fees, taxes or customs charges incurred. Retain your tracking information for future reference until your RMA has been completed

Of course, at any moment they could handle it for me. But, the whole point of this thread, really, is that they say on every single B-stock item, that they have been tested to function like a new product. But there is no way this GPU was tested thoroughly. It would have to be a huge coincidence it was tested to be within its last moments of life. I've been through a lot of problem hardware in the past couple of years, EVGA included.

And its maddening, with the way they play around the pricing game. Even on their B-stock items. Such that, I felt kind of lucky to get this card for the price I did. But its garbage.
