Question: I want the "best" exhaust 140mm fan available for heat removal in a Fractal Design Torrent case. I have been researching Noctuas industrial NF-A14s and yes the noise levels can be high due to the 3-phase motor, but.. that means more air being pulled out. Just want to see if anyone has utilized this product for exhaust applications. For the Torrent I only have one slot to mount a 140mm fan in the back.

the back of that case is designed for free flowing exhaust, one fan isnt going to make much difference and people have posted in other threads backing that up. the extra noise will not be worth it.

the 3000rpm industrial would be that thing.
'best' would be giving it its own speed control so it is the last thing to ramp up at system peak load.
my 2k 140 industrial is dead silent at 800 rpm a little over a foot from my ear, and pointed right at me.

the speed control could use a pair of temperature probes, one of inlet air, the other at exhaust and use THAT fan speed to keep the overall case temperature down.

Better off with a cheaper redux 140 in the rear as its PWM based and most motherboards and software can control the RPMs
