[H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears for Nvidia, AMD, Intel, PS5, XBOX

I managed to snag a 3080 just now, even though I did not really need it. But will go ahead and keep it.

No idea what the fall refreshes are going to cost with inflation and availability, so this will do for now, and I can sell later if I wat to.

I had the 3060 ti fe ready to checkout, but I had to close the window. Of course they are finally available when they have no more value for resellers or miners.

I finally had a 3080 in my cart. Just couldn’t pull the trigger. My little office can’t handle the heat. I’ll stay with my more efficient 3070 and wait to see where the next sweet spot is.

Locally I'm guessing, or "within a 250 mile radius" LoL ( sucks when you live on the coast and that radius is effectively only a half circle )
60 ti went OOS in the bay in 30 minutes still eons compared to before and 3070 was legit available for 3 hours, not mention one in the FS section 😉

Grabbed an FE 3060 Ti but not sure why. I just felt compelled to do so since it's the first time I've ever seen them available...
I think I am just going to cancel this. I was going to get the 3060 ti since its such a good value and just sell my 3080 ti but I did not realize I might not even get but 900 bucks for it. I might as well hold on to it at this point.

OK I guess. Wake me up when it's at $500.
The FE 3070 is a perfectly fine card and I'd argue one of the best GA104 implementations, you do not need a FTW3 type monstrosity for this die, I had 6 GA 104 cards two weeks ago so speaking from experience. The logical part of my brain wants me to return mine tomorrow though since it's not gonna get much use in the SFF but it's so damn cute and efficient, decisions, decisions.

I thought the FE 3080 TI and even 3090 were garbage. They all had tons of unacceptable coil wine and even the fans were loud and did not sound very smooth at all. The FE 3070 on the other hand was stupidly quiet with practically no perceivable coil whine and very quiet fans. It was one of the most silent cars overall that I've ever used. I think one issue with the FE cards is there are tons of inconsistency. Digital foundry had two 3080 TIs and they said one of them was very loud where the other one was acceptable. The 2 FE 3080 TIs I used reflected that same experience when it came to fan noise but both were way too loud with coil whine. The FE 3090 was the loudest card I've ever heard in my life and was just absolutely ridiculous. Most reviewers got a quiet sample and seems most users did too but there were quite a bit of loud ones when googling it.

Had two 3090 FEs both excellent with minimal whine, note you need to break in cards to reduce whine for some cards and a few days of eth mining is all it takes.

I think that is a myth for the most part. I have never had coil get reduced even after years of use. In fact if anything it becomes worse in my experience.

Also what you call minimal may be intolerable for someone else.

Agree to disagree there, have seen it happen in practice with multiple cards with use. You need to subject it to a 24/7 load for a few days, intermittent gaming for a couple of hours a day doesn't work.

My current PSU whined when I first got it, went away after a few months, haven't heard it since. This was about 7 years ago.

For GPUs, like he said a long high load can sometimes burn it in. Otherwise undervolting will take care of it. Back when chokes weren't sealed/closed, people would put nail polish on them.

I just received this email from EVGA today. I didn't bother to check my queue and delete it.

Yeah I got the one for the 08G-P5-3751-KR (3070 version), completely forgot I was in the queue for that I want to say for well over a year... but hey EVGA was happily sending products to it's big name retailers.

To clarify, they cancelled the queue for a bunch of non-Ultra cards (Black, Gaming) which have been either not manufactured at all, or barely manufactured, since 2020.

The 3080 FTW3 Ultra, the model EVGA actually produced in good supply, finished its queue in April.

EVGA should have cancelled these other models a long time ago, or upgraded people's queue positions to the Ultras.

I'd also like to take a moment to point and laugh at EVGA, who in January rolled out the overly complex Queue 3.0 system only to have it rendered entirely useless when the GPU market crash started immediately after:

I'll soon be rolling out what I call the "TaintedSquirrel Queue 1.0" wherein GPU manufacturers can get in line for a chance to sell me a discounted GPU.

I'm sorry why should they have cancelled these other models? Because everyone should pay an extra premium on the "ultra" models?

Out of morbid curiosity I checked the price of the one that was cancelled for me (3070 black, as it was barely over actual MSRP when I hopped in the queue), saw one on Amazon that was only $539... then noticed it was a used card seriously fuck off with this used bullshit on Amazon, they need to leave that for Ebay or something which ironically some momo with a buy it now price of $1899 for it, LoL.

EVGA is no better than any other AIB. They push the ridiculously priced ultra versions and ignore/stop producing the lower tier versions. F them all. I will only be buying Nvidia or AMD branded GPUs going forward.

B-stock midweek:
3060, $310.
2070 Super FTW3, $330.
A couple 2080 Supers, $380.

That's about it this week.

I still enjoy looking at all the FHR 3080's sitting there at $760-$790. These cards were literally going for $2,400 about 6 months ago.

B Stock cards are getting more reasonable but new cards ok the site are still overpriced:
3060 Ti XC3 Ultra for $410

3070 Ti XC3 Ultra for $599

2080 Super for $380

they cancelled those obviously because they can just use those chips for the higher priced skus. It’s just that simple. It was pretty obvious after a couple months that they had no intention of ever producing those SKUs again.

I feel like half of their product line never got manufactured, the only one I ever got a notify for was the 3090 Kingpin Hybrid and I was signed up for like 8 models lol.

I picked all of the EVGAs that simply never got distributed, its funny looking back as there was that Google Doc that showed all the models and when people joined the queue, and all the random XC3/gaming black models i picked just said <NULL>

Wow first time I have seen any FEs in stock around here at BB. I’m way past the point of looking at $400+ cards now. Looking to pick up a 6600 or xt for my sff box next.
